The Pocahontas County Opera House is a community project which has paid off wonderfully for the residents of this scenically spectacular Allegheny Mountain area as well as folks who are lucky enough to visit. We've seen great concerts - the Avett brothers before they broke big (for$5!), "Little Pickers" from the Allegheny Echoes Music Workshops, Jim James of My morning... More

Very nice traditional opera house setting for concerts/events. Friendly staff and good location are a definite plus, one toilet each for men and women are the downside. Overall it is a wonderful place for entertainment events.

The Opera House is a lovely little venue for performances or craft fairs or any gathering. Almost Shaker in its simplicity it's just a nice space to share and enjoy community activities. May it last another hundred years.

The interior of the building is nostalgic and charming, much different from the larger theaters and centers. We were surprised to find this place in such a small town. We saw one of our Bluegrass favorites; "Larry Sparks and the Lonesome Ramblers" and we enjoyed the show immensely, the accoustics were excellent. The building is clean and well-kept with photographs... More

The inside of the opera house is classic 1909 architecture with beautiful tin ceilings and wrap around balcony. Also in the front they had pictures taken of the area, circa 1950's that made you realize how far technology and farming have come in the last 60 years. Also they had pictures of the opera and performers from the beginning.

Phenomenal acoustics, great history, helpful staff. Shows are not terribly frequent, but they're always quality.

Took friends from Richmond to the Opera House on November 2 to see Larry Keel and the Natural Bridge. We had a blast. Second time there for a bluegrass concert and can't wait to go back!

Pocahontas County Opera House is a lovely old building with phenomenal acoustics. The genres of music continue to broaden, from a core of traditional and bluegrass, to Latin, African, Jazz and contemporary, in addition to specialty shows and plays. It is a venue for local, state and national musicians to play to a small crowd (300 max.), providing a unique... More
