While visiting relatives in West Virginia, we traveled to Lewisburg to a privately owned cave, Lost World Caverns. After visiting many caves in my life, I never get tired of venturing underground to view the amazing formations nature has created over the millions of years....More

Wild Caving in the Lost World Caverns was sooooo much fun! It is an adventure that is not too strenuous, but enough of a challenge that it is not for everyone, particularly little ones or those who are really out of shape. Scary enough to...More

Beautiful drive to get to the cavern and gift shop. The shop had a giant mill on the side of it which was pretty cool, they had lots of neat souvenirs and keepsakes. The cavern itself was pretty interesting, not too rough for our little...More

Visited the caverns on a cold rainy day. Few people were at the attraction. The gift shop/museum was very nice and had replicas of real fossils and lots of gems, stones, gemstones, etc. Some of the fossil replicas were interesting. I liked the replica of...More

We wanted to do a "cave" tour on our trip and picked Lost World because it was on our route. We really enjoyed it. It's not a huge cavern which made it better for our family with three small kids. The kids loved it despite...More

The best thing about a self- guided tour is that can be as long or a quick as your interest allows. A unique thing about this cave is that some of limestone breakdown is hexagonal. I hadn't seen that before. Nice variety of cave formations....More

We thought this would be a nice post-Christmas activity for the family. It was easy to find, inexpensive, and very interesting. Spelunkers (cave explorers) found it in 1942 when asking local farmers if they had caves (the area is riddled with them). The farmer only...More

Nice size cavern with good paths and safe travel. Great gift shop with surprisingly good display of dinosaur artifacts.

Though a self guided tour, this is one of the most fascinating caves we visit, and when possible bring guests.

I would have to agree with all the recommendations NOT to bring your dog into the caverns. It was very slippery and she could easily hurt herself.

The tour would be fine for a 5 year old with supervision. We take several kindergarten classes on a regular basis for school field trips every year and they all walk the entire tour with no problem.
