    Breathtaking Views
Nice 4 mile loop when you walk 0.5 miles along the road as we did. Endless Wall Trail parking is smaller than the Nuttall parking area. We parked here and walked to Endless Trailhead. It's a downhill walk to do this. The trail itself is relatively easy compared to many trails in this national park area. This trail walks much of the rim. If you are adventurous, there are ladders to challenge you. We didn't do those. Views of the bridge and river is breathtaking. Hearing the rafters on the water brings a smile. Didn't see rock climbers, but hear it is a popular spot for it.

    Short Walk, Big Reward
This trail runs through dense forest for about 1.1 miles and rewards you with a stunning view. I believe it is called "Endless Wall" because from the view at Diamond Point, you can see a rock face wall running along the top of the Gorge as far as the eye can see. Warning: you can start this trail from one of two parking lots. Whichever parking lot you start from, when you are finished with the views at Diamond Point, go back the way you came so you return to the same lot. If you walk this trail as a circuit, you will end up at the OTHER parking lot, which is about a half-mile from where you started and where your car is parked.

Moderate hike for an incredible view
You’d think the hike would be rough in order see such a lookout view but it was such a easy going hike! The incline isn’t bad at all and the rhododendron was blooming when we were there. So lots of stopping and admiring along the way!

    Amazing views!
Moderately easy trail with amazing views of the gorge and cliffs. We stopped at several of the overlooks at the top and then turned around and came back. We didn’t want to do the full trail and then walk the half mile along the road. Our knees aren’t that great but the few rocky parts were not bad at all!

Silly me! I thought that the trail was around the rock wall. I kept looking for the rock wall on the trail, but did not find it until I got to Diamond Overlook. And there it was on either side of me!

This trail has two trailheads with small parking lots. They will tow your car if you are parked on the road. I woke up extra early to get to the trailhead by 8:30 am on a Monday and the lot was already mostly full.

The trail was fairly easy. The overlook was gorgeous. The fog was still present making the scenery really mystical. A big black bird was on an adjacent rock which was really cool with the fog in the background.

I REALLY enjoyed this hike. We came on Tuesday, October 12 in the morning - around 10 am. We went to Diamond Point and turned around. This is around 2 miles (roundtrip) with 288 feet elevation gain. It is a pretty flat hike. Once we got to Diamond Point (less than 30 minutes from the trailhead), we were able to enjoy the views of the New River Gorge Bridge in the distance and the river below.

If you are looking for an easy hike with awesome views in New River Gorge, this one is hard to beat.

You know when people ask what is a must do or what "not to miss" in a National Park? Well, for New River Gorge National Park, Endless Wall Trail should be at the top of that list This incredible hike is mostly easy, with a few short, moderate rocky sections that are slippery when wet. This trail is not for the faint of heart, though, as there are sheer dropoffs at all the viewpoints (and no fences or barriers). The viewpoints are all accessible via short paths to the side of the trail, though, so it's not like you're walking along the edge during the main trail.

There are several unnamed viewpoints that will take your breath away before you even get to the crown jewel known as Diamond Point. Once you reach the sign for diamond point and walk to the cliffs, the view there blows away even those you saw before. It's stunning.

Arrive early (recommend no later than 8:30, 8am if it's peak tourist season) or you won't have anywhere to park. We parked at the Fern Creek parking lot, but there is a second parking lot at the other end of the trail (maybe half a mile down the road). Bonus - if you arrive early, you will have the trail mostly to yourself (and all the other people who read this and followed my advice lol)

The trail is actually one way, starting at the Fern Creek parking lot, ending at Nuttal (or vice versa), but we chose to turn around at Diamond Point and head back to Fern Creek. Our total hike out to Diamond Point and back was 2 miles.

The trail is not wheelchair accessible, and you should be in reasonably good health, particularly if it is hot outside. Bring lots of water no matter the weather. I personally would not bring small children to this trail, or even older children unless they are extremely respectful of the dangers of sheer dropoffs.

Minutes from the Canyon Rim Visitor Center is the best hike in NRG National Park. It is about a 3 mile trail with about 1/2 mile along the road. It has amazing views of the Gorge as well as the bridge and the river. It also has a great trail through a beautiful Hemlock forest and two bridges over Fern Creek. There multiple places leave the trail for views of the gorge, but the highlight is Diamond view. While the point is shape like a diamond, the views are also diamond quality. We went first thing in the morning are were able to see some of the floating mist in the gorge. In addition, in May, the Catawba Rhododendron is in bloom and it enhances the hike in the forest along the rim. This rhododendron is fairly unique to this area with a pink flower. Finally, the stone wall at the canyon rim that provides great view is also a create climbing spot for the eastern US. You can access the cliffs from this trail by ladder as seen in the pictures. Long Point has a fantastic view of the bridge but for all the reasons mentioned, this is the Best Hike in NRG National Park.

Finally as my daughter said, this trail gives you great views without really having to hike to a high point. The elevation on the entire trail is like 300 feet and it is spread through the trail. Again something that may be more familiar for those in the west but for those in the east, this is a MUST SEE experience to soak in the entire gorge.

Excellent! We are traveling with our 7 and 10 year olds, so we choose our hikes carefully. We asked for recommendations in the visitor center and this was the first one, and I'm so glad it was!

2 1/2 miles one way, with the main overlook (diamond point) about halfway through. The 2 trailheads are about half a mile apart, on a main road that doesn't have much space for walking, so take that into account, that it will end up being more than 2 1/2 miles total if doing the whole thing.

The person who made the recommendation also suggested going in one side, up to diamond point, and then out the same way to avoid the walk on the road, but we chose to do the whole thing. We entered at the Nuttall Trailhead, becuase we were told it was steep in the beginning and then evened out, while the Fern Creek entrance was moderately steep the whole way. It worked out well for us and nothing was too steep.

This was longer than our (very suburban) kids are used to but they loved it and agreed that the views were worth it. Along the way there are smaller lookout points to take in the view or stop for a snack. Or to see a copperhead, which we did - be careful! A bit muddy in places due to recent rain, but not awful. The lookout points can be VERY dangerous if not careful, so use your judgement if traveling with children.

Each trailhead had an outhouse style bathroom and small parking lot.

I decided to hike this one to get some views of the nation's newest National Park and was not disappointed. While I did not go out to Grandview or Long View, I can't imagine you will find a much better viewpoint in this park. I parked at the Fern Creek lot in the early morning and had no issues finding a spot, but I can imagine this changes as the day progresses. The trail stretches about a mile in the woods before reaching the wall. You will come upon climber access which does have a variety of views. One of the views is a diamond shaped rock pointing at the gorge. This is not the Diamond Point view, oddly enough. Keep going and you will find signage for this observation point. This is the best overlook on the trail and offers some excellent vantage points. Contrary to what some people say, you can see some of the bridge from a couple spots on this hike, but never the whole bridge. You can easily go to the Visitor Center a mile up the road for easy viewpoints of the bridge. From Diamond Point, you can hike back the way you came for a slightly shorter hike, or make it a loop through the other parking area and down the road. I turned around and retraced my steps. For a park with few hikes, this should be one that makes it on to your itinerary.

We arrived at Fern Creek parking at 8:45am on Saturday of Labor Day weekend and found a couple of spaces left on the parking lot. The Endless Wall Trail is fairly flat and can be accomplished by anyone capable of walking a couple of miles. Trail was a little muddy in spots. We walked past the initial sign to split down to rock climbing access and continued up towards Diamond Point Overlook. We stopped at a couple of beautiful overlooks on the way, but Diamond Point was the best and we were the only people there for 10-15 minutes then it got busy. We continued on the trail and then took a near vertical steel ladder down to climbing access on opposite end of trail and then hiked back towards the original sign we saw. It was a narrow trail passing several people rock climbing and rappelling. The trail was hard to find at times but we did some awesome bouldering back to another steel ladder, which went straight up to the first sign we saw. It was 3 miles in all and we spent 3 hours with plenty of time to explore the sites and relax enjoying great views. Highly recommended by all six in our party (44, 44, 19, 18, 18, 16).

We hiked this trail the day before we went rafting on the Lower New River. It was so cool to see rafts going down the river where we were going to be the next day. The hike wasn’t too long and the views were amazing. It was over 90 degrees the day we hiked it and it was so shaded that we weren’t too terribly hot. Highly recommend this trail!

Highly recommend hiking the 1 mile Endless Wall Trail to Diamond Overlook and then turning around and coming back. Otherwise, if you complete the Endless Wall Trail, you'll end at a different parking lot. Multiple rocks along the trail that provide overlooks to the river and gorge. Beautiful!! Easy hike.

We chose this hike to do with family and dogs ages 10-73 because it was listed as easy/moderate. That rating is fairly accurate, since it is pretty short but some of the terrain can be tricky, including some higher boulders that were tough for the grandparents. We started to Fern Creek trailhead and took that to the Diamond overlook and turned around. The overlook had awesome views of the gorge and was well worth the trek. Not too many other folks on the trail at 9AM on a weekday.
