Our youth group has gone to Wintetplace for a number of years. We stay in one of the villas at Glade Springs so that we can cook our own meals. You do have to drive to the slopes, but Glade Springs has an indoor pool that you get to use! We have had issues with air mattresses and plumbing, but... More

We went snow tubing, which is great, the prices are not bad, the main problems is that they have so many people there doing the same thing, you can only ride the ride about once and hour, which is just bad.

We just moved to NC from FL. My son joined Cub Scouts here and we went to Winterplace as part of a Cub Scout event. The group rental line was crazy, don't get me wrong. But once you get out of there it's awesome! Being new to the sport we had to rent everything and obviously we only did the... More

Decided it was time to teach the kids to ski so our family of 6 headed to Winterplace. Three of the kids were signed up for lesson and the youngest,6, went to their all day ski school, which she was fine in. The other 3 learned a lot and were skiing down intermediate hills by the second day. The mountain... More

I just visited here with my family and we had a great time. It had snowed for a few days so the powder was nice. Thick base. Lots to do here. Only one run seemed icy. There are cabins for ski in and ski out access. Once again, the week days are cheaper and less people on the slopes. The... More

I LOVE Winterplace, I always have. This is where my husband and I took Merri and her friends to ski. Now, Merri and her husband James and I take their 4 awesome boys( from ages 3 to 16) to learn how to ski and snowboard. This is THE PLACE o our sweet little guys. The lessons (and teachers) are so... Our first mistake was going here on a Saturday, but it was the only time my son and his wife could go. We arrived at noon on an usually warm day. The parking lot was a muddy mess and we had to change into our bibs on the back of the truck to stay out of the mud. We went... More

My family had a wonderful time skiing at Winterplace. We are from NC and have skied several of the NC Ski Resorts (Sugar, Beech, Appalachian). This was our first venture to WV and Winterplace by far is the best ski resort we have been to so far in the Southeast. I would highly recommend it for beginner to intermediate skiers.... More

The Rockies this is not. But this is a 2.5 hour car ride from where we live in NC, and this was worth coming to. Much better than NC skiing. Was not terribly crowded. Long line to get a drink at the bar. We rented equipment from Ski Barn (recommend them too!). Some of the runs were pretty icy, but... More

I really liked this mountain for a few different reasons. The access is right off of I-77, so traveling to-and-fro is a bit easier without dealing with windy back roads so common to other ski areas. The trails are dispersed well throughout the mountain, that you have "Green" trails mixed with "Blue" and "Black" so that different level skiers can... More
