Our family of 5 with 3 teenagers wanted to try climbing for the first time. We are all athletic but had zero climbing experience. Our guides were Jeff and Tyler. They did a fantastic job of making it both comfortable and challenging. One of our teenagers is afraid of heights. They were patient and worked with her through the entire process.

The entire experience was great. A definite highlight of our trip. We will definitely do it again and would highly recommend New River Mountain Guides to anyone looking for a great day of fun.

We had an awesome trip with Jeff as our guide. He was super patient with our 7 and 11 year old kids and they had a lot of fun. He also provided great direction for some of the more complicated routes. Definitely the highlight of our trip!

Me and a group of friends wanted to expand on our climbing knowledge and techniques. Our guide Jeff asked us what we wanted to cover and tailored our day to what we wanted to learn. He took us to a location that doesn't get too much traffic (but still had good climbing for our level of experience) so we didn't have to compete with other groups. We covered everything we wanted to learn and got a decent amount of climbing in. We even went about 1.5-2 hrs over our time limit. We had a good time!

In the carved hills of beautiful West Virginia, I found myself facing my fear of heights with NRMG. My group was lucky enough to have the pleasure of both Jeff and Matt as our climbing guides. They customized our climb to fit both the needs of novice and more experience climbers that were in our group. The best part is climbing with NRMG is like climbing with friends. They both challenge and support you, and enable you to give them your full trust because they are so knowledgeable. I can't wait to take my next outdoor climb with NRMG. Believe the hype they really are the best team in the ville!

Great service overall! Our guide Matt was wonderful. Really friendly and relaxed. He found some awesome climbs for us despite the weather and generally made sure we had a great time. Thanks Matt!

I've had the pleasure of climbing with Jeff a NRMG! He found a great climbing area when it was rainy and wet out.
Not only was Jeff extremely knowledgeable but he conveyed the information in a way that made me feel comfortable about my current climbing ability and my potential to progress. Thanks Jeff for a great experience! I can't wait to go climbing again.

I did two days of custom climbing with Matt, one of NRMG's guides, and had a great experience. Highlights from what I specifically chose to focus on were a bunch of mock trad leads, great crack climbing, and practice with backed-up lead falls. Surprisingy to me, the lead falls might have been the most valuable part of the experience. Matt had me secured on a tope-rope belay with some slack (the "backup") as well as on a lead rope running through some pieces of trad gear. Then I practiced taking falls and landing in a relaxed and safe way. The whole experience made me trust my trad placements a lot more, not to mention just giving me more confidence that I know how to land safely if I take a fall on lead. Plus Matt was incredibly knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and just a pleasure to hang out with for a few days.

I don't ever write reviews, but I had a really great experience. Couldn't recommend it more highly, whether you have specific skills you're looking to work on or if you're just looking to get out and climb. Enjoy!
