This is our third time at Cantrell’s and it will not be our last! All the guides are wonderful and do a fabulous job of making you feel comfortable and give you exactly what you pay for, and give you your money’s worth. If you want to be thrown out of the raft they are certain to sling you out in the safest place; if you want to stay dry then just tell them! They are awesome. Going back this time it was like coming home. We saw the familiar experienced faces in Gene, Terry, Stacey, Audra, Clark, Devon, Gary, Nancy, and Richie. It was also awesome to see the second generation rafters (Garrett, Devon, and Brody) now guiding the Gauley!!! We actually were Garrett’s first solo trip on the Lower Gauley. He was a chip off the old block per se and is a very knowledgeable young-gun. We had an awesome day on the water. We will be back! Would not even consider rafting w another company. Love Cantrell’s.

We had a great experience with Cantrell. Cantrell helped us select the right trip for our family of four (kids ages 12 and 14 and we wanted an adventurous trip)- the Lower New River full day trip. I was concerned about Covid-19 procedures and they assured me that everyone was required to wear masks on the bus and that our family would have our own raft (just us and the guide) for no extra cost. I called several companies-- none of the other ones seemed to enforce masks on the bus and they all charged extra for our own raft. The trip was really fun! Our guide, Randy, was excellent. He knew a lot about the area and provided solid advice and guidance throughout. We are planning to do this again next year and will definitely use Cantrell again.

Our family had a great time on this adventure. Our positive experience started with the call to book the trip. Based on our family and the ages of our teenagers, we were pointed to the Lower New River trip. It was a great fit and great fun. Randy, our guide, was very knowledgeable of the area and expertly guided us through our first white water adventure. We would definitely book with Cantrell again.

Stacy was an outstanding guide! Everything was easy from the moment we arrived at the shop. We chose Cantrell because it’s a mom and pop shop and we like to spend money locally whenever possible. They were very good about COVID guidelines and our boat contained only our party. I heard from some other travelers that the big companies are mixing parties on their rafts which is absurd in today’s world. The full day trip was a blast and we’re already plotting our next one, maybe even Gauley this fall. Lunch was provided and included a yummy famous WV pepperoni roll and a ton of snacks. Every person we interacted with was friendly, genuine, and funny. When we returned, we grabbed beers from the bar and sat out on the gorgeous patio amongst the pretty flower garden and chatted with the owners. They were also darling people! When we booked, we didn’t know they had cabin and campground rentals but now that we know, we plan to stay there on our next adventure to NRG. All of the guides we interacted with were lovely, but we felt extra special that we got to spend the day with Stacy. Keep up the amazing work!! This place isn’t almost heaven, it is heaven.

My favorite part was being with my family and we had a wonderful guide Mr. Bean. This was our first time rafting and we absolutely loved the experience. They have amazing service and lastly, they know what they are doing on the river.
