Our guide, Doug, was fantastic. You’ll get a quick safety lesson, suited up in a harness and safety tether before shuttling over to the short trail to the entrance. Doug was great - learned everyone’s names right off the bat, held personal conversations with everyone, and was very knowledgeable! We were even able to stop and sit to watch rafters and kayakers coming down river. He took photos for us and air dropped them (or could email/text them as well) for no extra fee. This is truly a unique experience, worth the price of admission.

We debated about this activity or horseback riding, but you can go horseback riding just about anywhere. I am a little scared of heights, but so glad we did the Bridge Walk. I felt very safe because I was harnessed in. Also I bought a $5 lanyard for my phone. They did not insist on it, but who wants to drop their phone and never see it again? Just make sure all the phone straps don’t cover any part of the camera lens. Our guide Kailie was informative and interesting. She gave us a lot of information and let us sit and dangle our legs over the edge, which I did. Amazing views, a little noisy because of traffic overhead and this day was windy, but I highly recommend this activity. Cost about the same as horseback riding, but so cool! I think there were about 8 or 10 people in our group and we were half way in line, so we could here Kailie just fine. She did take 2 photos of us and texted them to us later. It did not take 3 hours, but well worth the price. I was ready to get off the bridge by the time we made it to the other side. When our guide told us how workers can climb a ladder built inside the steel columns, I felt queasy just thinking about that, but besides that time, I felt excited. There are railings along the side you can hold onto and of course your harness feels safe. It was a little weird when the cable of the line went over transition sections where it would tug a little, but you get used to that after the first time.

The sheer height and narrowness is intimidating but it's totally safe.
Everyone in the group is outfitted with a harness and hooked to an overhead cable for the entire length of the walk. Wife was more than a little nervous and anxious. I was thrilled the whole time. Our walk guide was Paul an older gentleman who has been doing this for 11 years. Our tour group was 14 and that is the max for this activity. You are shuttled in a small bus to the New River Gorge National Park Visitor Center only about a 2 minute drive. As you emerge next to the highway on the bridge cars and trucks are honking knowing where you are going. You are on the bridge for around an hour leaving plenty of time for multiple photos and videos as well as history of the bridge told by Paul. We were here in October on a mainly cloudy day.
When the sun broke out the views were incredible between the mountains and river as fall colors were just emerging. Shot many pictures and videos with both IPhone and HD cameras. Very worthwhile!

Booked a tour a week in advance, day of trip was 30 degrees and 40mph winds. Refused to even give us a rain check, our tour was only half full that day so was not even like our booking stopped others from being able to go. I feel as if a decent company would work with a family with young kids in some way. Would strongly not recommend this company that only cares about money

We were a bit concerned given the beam’s 851’ height. It looks sturdy and has rails. The harness secures adventurous people, and Ms. Mattie’s relaxed demeanor gives assurance that there is nothing to be concerned about.
Ms. Mattie stopped six times on the .6 mile walk across during which she informed us about the bridge’s statistics. Of all the stats, what’s most noteworthy was that 50 men built the bridge in four years. At that time, it cost 37M, 3M over the bid.
Midway, Ms. Mattie told us that we could sit on the beam. That was where she took our pictures with our feet hanging above the gorge!

To those who have a fear of heights, I learned from a tour guide in the Philippine’s Rice Terraces to look at his backpack so that I don’t become overwhelmed by the height. I looked at the back of the man in front of me while walking up to the 2nd stop. From there, I managed to look down at the bottom of the gorge and enjoy the view of the river, rapids and kayakers while walking.

The Bridge Walk was great fun!
I'm not a fan of heights, but found it to be just "scary" enough to be fun, if you know what I mean. The views were outstanding, and I've seen a lot of great views in my lifetime. This was a unique perspective, an awesome way to take in the beauty of nature, slowly, as you walk level with the low-lying clouds. If you bring your cell phone, be sure to secure it, because it would be very easy to drop!
Expect to spend a bit over 2 hours to include a short van ride to/from the underbelly of the bridge. Our tour guide added humor & knowlege to the experience.
The van was a little sketchy, and price was a bit high, but overall I do recommend this tour.

Walking across one of the tallest bridges in the world was a real treat! We went in the fall when the leaves were changing, but the air was a little too cool for crowds, so it was absolutely perfect. I'd highly recommend booking a tour with this company! Our guide was helpful, amusing, and lighthearted as he shared stories about the bridge on our walk across it. They have a unique chain system that allows you to walk effortlessly across the bridge while maintaining your complete safety. As our guide told us, this is the only place in the world where you can have an identical experience to this one, so book your trip today! You won't regret it.

This was an amazing experience and well worth your time and money. We had Rusty as our guide and he was fantastic... knowledgeable, helpful and fun to spend several hours on a catwalk under the New River Gorge Bridge. We learned so much about building the bridge, maintaining it and the history of the area. It was incredibly safe as you were harnessed into a cable line the whole time even though it sounds scary. The views were amazing and I would highly recommend seeing the Bridge from the inside out!

Our small group of 8 walked the entire length of the bridge on a metal catwalk up to 826 ft. over the river. It does feel like you are very high up (you are) so it can be a bit frightening especially is you are usually afraid of heights. It is actually quite safe. There are handrails on each side and you are clipped in by a cable attached to a harness. Our guide was excellent and gave us a lot of history as well as facts associated with the construction and maintenance of the bridge. It is expensive ($72 + tax/person) but this once in a lifetime experience is worth it.

What a fun, unique, and memorable experience! It was definitely worth every penny! Our guide Debbie was fantastic! She was truly passionate about the bridge and it showed. She had so many interesting stories to share. A couple people in our group were very fearful of heights and she did a great job of putting them at ease. She also took numerous pictures of our group, and very surprisingly, there was no charge for this service - she simply air dropped all of her photos to my phone. (I’ve done similar experiences where I was charged over $100 for a photo package.)
