Mountain Surf Paddle Sports offer high quality Stand Up Paddle Board rentals, tours and instruction. We have ACA SUP Instructor trained guides (the only company on Summersville Lake and New River with ACA trained SUP instructors). We offer flat water tours and instruction on Summersville Lake, Intro to white water SUP tours and instruction on the Upper New River, and scenic tours at Kanawha Falls in Gauley Bridge. This small, family owned business is passionate about paddle boarding and is eager to share this passion with you! Rentals are available for pick up at Water Stone Outdoors in Fayetteville, WV.

This was a wonderful experience and my paddle boarding efforts went much, much better than l'd expected! This was all thanks to John's experience and patience with me, and the high quality paddle boards really helped too. John expertly helped me get my bearings and then guided me around the lake, with great stops at various points of interest. Thanks John for a great morning!

I had an amazing time on the water! John was a really great guide and gave me some very helpful paddleboarding tips, as well as a lot of interesting area info. I enjoyed every minute and would highly recommend the experience!

Our family was camping at River Expeditions and we were unable to zip line and Mountain Surf Paddle Sports, Shannon saved the day! We had a wonderful time paddle boarding with our excellent guide John! Both were very knowledgeable, patient and able to tell us all about the landscape around us! Turned our boring day into an absolute adventure our family will always remember! We will definitely be checking into everything else they offer!

Highly recommended!! The sunset tour with John H was fantastic. Perfect tour, guide and teacher for my 12-year-old daughter and me. Very patient and taught us how to paddleboard correctly. Neither of us fell in and had a great time.

This was a great trip! Well worth the $$$, we got a personalized tour of the falls and lake, and he customized the time for what we wanted to do. The conversation continued on the shore as he gave us great advice on where to eat, other sites, etc.

I couldn't give 5 stars fro 2 reasons. I was a little disappointed that our guide, Sara, was not prepared with enough child life jackets, and my 4-year old son, the smallest kid there, ended up in life jacket way too big. And the complementary photos that are advertised were not being taken until I asked about it halfway out and was told she "had her hands full" and that her lens on her camera was broken. She did end up taking some, and we got a handful of good ones, so I appreciate that since that's part of what I paid for and didn't have my phone on me for that reason.
Overall, we did really enjoy the experience. Summersville lake was beautiful and the weather was great. We enjoyed learning to paddle, jumping off the rocks into the lake, swimming around, and seeing the waterfall.

I booked a two-hour SUP tour with Meghan for my family of 5 with kids ranging from preteen to teenagers. Many of the other reviewers already detailed why Meghan does such a great job, and I agree. Before booking, she responded quickly to all my questions. The day before our excursion, Meghan called to touch base about the stormy forecast. On the day of, she was able to start our paddleboarding a little earlier to avoid the storm. She gave detailed instructions and pointers throughout. Even a not-so-coordinated person like I was able to do it. She took photos and emailed them to us after. Overall, we had a fantastic experience and highly recommend Meghan.

Megan and Sarah made our first time paddle boarding fun and full of great views. Sarah was our experienced guide and gave us lessons/helpful tips before she took us out on the water and showed us a bunch of great spots on Summerville Lake. We were anxious at first but were able to learn quickly and really enjoy it. We had a fantastic time on the lake and really got to relax on the water. We would definitely return with Mountain Surf on our next trip.

Meghan was amazing! Our family of 7 was the entire group for a half-day tour. She was able make it fun for the adults, the teens, and even the 8-year-old. She went above and beyond with tailoring things for us, right down to the snacks. We would definitely do it again. If you’re considering taking the tour, do it! You won’t regret it.
