I wanted to fit a stop at the observation tower during my visit to the area if time permitted. Due to my lack of preparation and reliance on modern navigation I was led to the wrong location and my "available time" expired. I recommend print...More

Worth the climb but don't expect to get into the observation booth. Not too many allowed on the tower at once, it does get narrow at the top, kinda like a lighthouse,

We happened on this road and were wondering if we should be on it and then down the road came the signs. Its fall and the trees were beautiful. Close to the end there are picnic areas, semi secluded and very nice. The observation tower...More

Nice drive up to the parking area. There were only two other couples there when we were there, so it allowed for tons of nice pictures of the scenery. Practically no hiking or walking at all besides the steps going up. Very nice quick stop...More

This was a great place to explore. The drive was long, but the walk was short - and the views are spectacular! Enjoyed the local wildflowers and numerous butterflies - even observed a few snails. The day was bright, sunny and just a little breezy...More

This was a breath taking experience. Very easy walk and safe to climb. Highly recommend. The road their is gravel but very well maintained. Try to do it at sunset was a tip given by a local.

Bickles Knob tower is just a few short miles from Route 33. The forest road it is on makes a loop between “Stuart’s Park” and “Roosevelt Park” and is just up the mountain from “Bear Haven”. We usually enter from Route 33 at the top...More

First, know that no matter which route you take in, you will be driving on a 1.5 car gravel/dirt road. It will be dusty. There will be pot holes. And you will most likely meet a car coming the other way and hold your breath...More

I am scared of heights, though, not too bad. Often I can overcome it if I want to do something. However, this one was really open - between the steps, through the steps, even the platforms gap between the slats. I couldn't do it. It's...More
