I did not realize this was at the destination I was going. I saw this pretty blue light coming from a stone structure and change my walking path to see what this was. It was November I was visiting so instead of water surrounding it they had blue lights. To me it made it a very somber and beautiful sight... More

Just visited this memorial and it is a beautiful and fitting tribute to the state's war dead. It sits on the capital grounds which are beautiful on their own. This structure is a solemn tribute to those who gave their all for their country. I noticed something and share it here. If you look at the photos I've uploaded you... More

Nicely done. This is located on the state capitol grounds in Charleston. It is worth the time to visit this complex. This memorial as well as the other monuments on the grounds of a state that was created by Abraham Lincoln are unique.

We have stopped here a couple of times while in town. My uncles name is here. Very moving. Lovely area and well kept. Worth a stop and walk around the grounds.

I was really happy to see this beautiful tribute to our vets. And at night the lights just make it magical as if the fallen soldiers come to life once again.

West Virginia has contributed far more than her fair share of members of the armed forces. "Mountaineers are always free," and we appear to be willing to fight to maintain that freedom. This memorial has outward facing sentinel statues for the major services, while inside names are etched in an honor roll. Plan to spend 30 minutes just absorbing the... More
