We decided at the last minute to turn off the highway south and visit the memorial. It is located within the state capitol complex and there is plenty of inexpensive parking at 25 cents for 30 minutes. You won't need a full hour. There also are a few other monuments on the grounds, so take a stroll.

This is one of the best memorials I have seen. And who would have expected it in WV. If you are in the area this is a must see. WV is unique- I sincerely hope they revive tourism in this state.

This is a memorial tribute to those WV soldiers who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms. Be sure to stop - the great sacrifice of so many is commemorated by the names of each person lost in the wars.

Very moving, small enough not to be boring. I found the name of a family member who died in WWII, but got teary-eyed looking at the Vietnam vet statue; he reminded me of boys I knew.

I'm not a Veteran, nor a Veteran memorial buff. But this monument is just stunning. We stopped in after visiting the WV State Museum, and after stepping inside, we stopped talking. We found ourselves touching the names and reflecting on the sacrifices made. We even took pictures. Take a moment to experience the majesty of this fine memorial. I wont post our pics. I'd rather you see it for yourself.

My daughter is a history buff and was interested in stopping at this memorial. It is beautiful and worth the stop. It is a somber experience but an important one.

This is a very well presented and respectful monument. As a retired veteran I expect my fallen comrades to to be respected. I have visited Arlington as well as Punchbowl and this monument would not be out of place at either site.

This memorial is a stunning, but peaceful, reminder of the service from four wars: Vietnam, Korea, and both World Wars. In the middle of the four sections, there are walls with the inscribed names of every casualty from that particular war. Quite a tribute to those who died defending our freedoms.
Definitely worth taking the time to view if you are at the Capital or the museum.

Well done memorial. Including names of the fallen from Iraq, Dessert Storm and Afghanistan. The grounds around the memorial are well groomed.

Is it possible to walk to memorial from the airport or is there not a sidewalk?

That is a long, long distance. Airport is on mountaintop. Veterans Memorial is next to Capitol - down in the valley! Use cab or Uber!
