Two years ago on my first visit to the capital I was so proud that anyone could simply walk into the building. The Sargent at Arms for the senate invited my group to sit in the visitor's galley and watch a session (we couldn't - were there for a meeting). Once the tea party took over and passed a law... Unique capitol as it is set up as a complete center with multiple buildings and museum as well as a memorial. The entire place was well maintained and manicured. It provided a fantastic place for an afternoon stroll.

We have always been in awe of the Capitol's beauty. Granted, our Capitol may not be as big as other states have, but it is a wonderful, historical landmark definitely worthy of visiting.

The State Capitol is very pretty with the dome along the river. However, there was not one at the tour desk for over an hour. And there were no tours as advertised cause the tour lady did not come in that day. The Supreme Court room was very nice.

For a State historically muddled in corruption and confusion, it is remarkable that the West Virginia Capitol, and it's campus grounds, is among the most beautiful in the USA. A visit should include a lingering encounter with the main building, from the Governor's Office, at the entrance to the west wing, to the AG's Office at the east end of... More

My wife and I stopped there while we were in town for a Garth Brooks concert. This is a very iconic and stately building. The capital building faces the river and has a wonderful statue of Abraham Lincoln in front to greet you. This is a must see. Please take 30 minutes and at least visit the grounds.

We enjoy visiting state capitol buildings across the country. WV has one of the most beautiful capitol building of them all. When we drove across the bridge, the gold-leaf dome lit up like a beacon. The rotunda has a 2,000 pound chandelier and marble everything. Truly, it is one of the prettiest in the country. It is worth the stop.

The roof gleams in the sun, and the building looks just shy of majestic; it looks solidly built and safe. A feeling of security seems to accompany the building.
