I visited the county clerk to look for documents about my ancestors. The staff were polite and helpful. Cost of copies were high than other courthouses I have visited.

The clerk's office is a clerk's office. The building it's in, however, is somewhat of a gem; historic, with much of its history chronicled inside. The gifts of Charles Washington, George's brother, hence Charles Town. The trial of John Brown and his cohorts.
