The courthouse is very old, needs a little updating but then it would lose its charm. I love seeing the paintings and plaques on the wall. My favorite thing is the actual courtrooms themselves. (Don't try the seats...they aren't very comfortable \:-) It feels like...More

This Courthouse has much history, yet everything inside seems shabby, and as if, they really can’t be bothered to display this history properly. For instance, the courtroom used for the trial of abolitionist John Brown is in disrepair, with odd pieces of furniture stored there....More

It is a really interesting Court House. In this court house one of greatest man of America was convicted for his willing to fight Slavery back in the days. A lot of respect to John Brown.

To enter Jefferson Counry Courthouse is to step back in time. Even thought the courthouse is still being used today, the decor is of days of old! To see the woodwork and original artwork is something to awe!

The old court house is no longer active, but it is beautiful to see in the historic section of Charles Town. There are many other historic buildings and landmarks in the area a good place to take a short walk.

It's a lot better from the outside. Inside, it looks like an old building that has been rerererefitted to provide indoor plumbing, HVAC, electricity, etc. Read the plaques on the outside and let it go at that.
