Cowiche canyon

I took a drive along the lower trails and drove in the other side around the vineyards. It was beautiful.

This is an easy walk in a canyon so utterly different from the west side of the mountains that you feel you've really traveled. We walked to the end of the trail (3 miles or so), turned around and then walked up to the winery. A glass of good wine at their outdoor tables overlooking the valley is transporting in... More

Absolutely worth it - beautiful views, well-kept trail, easy parking. We spotted a small lizard, which was a big hit with the kids. Highly recommended!

I walked it twice in April and once in May. There are three entrances to the trail. One is at the end of Scenic Rd. in Yakima, another is on Summitview Rd., but is not marked. Look for a parking lot on the right near the top of the hill. The last is off Weikel Rd. The upper trails had... More

Definitely check this trail out to stretch your legs and enjoy fine desert scenery! Take the whole family, go as far or as little as you like. Great for mountain biking as well.

A small creek runs along the bottom of Cowiche Canyon so there is the sound of running water, birds and soft breezes to accompany you along the trail. Wild flowers in the spring, the scent of sage bush and occasional sightings of the mountains in the distance make this a welcome and hikeable trail.

Pack sun screen and water. This is an easy, scenic hike. Alittle something to get you ready or keep in shape for the season. It's closeness to Yakima makes a must do.

This is the trail where my home used to be and its wonderful. Once a crane swooped in front of us and it was awesome. Although it's a one in a million chance. I absolutely love this place, and remembering all the old memories of my old home.
