About
Jacob Williams is a family owned boutique winery located in the beautiful Columbia Gorge and named in honor of Brad Gearhart's two sons, Jacob and William. For over a decade, Brad and 40+ year wine-making veteran John Haw have dedicated themselves to producing high-quality wines sourced from the finest vineyards in the region. John Haw's experience started with Warner Vineyards and Leelanau Cellars in Michigan in 1972. He ventured to Oregon, where his family was from, landing at Shafer Vineyards in Forest Grove. He continued on to Sokol Blosser for the next 11 years, which led him to Pedroncelli in Dry Creek, California. Ultimately, he found his way to the Columbia Gorge, first working for Maryhill and then finding his home with Jacob Williams. He believes the Columbia Gorge is the best wine growing region in the nation. John carefully hand selects each vineyard and allows the vineyards to dictate what the style will be. Aging his wines for up to 36 months, John's experience and dedication continue to produce premium award-winning wines year after year. Jacob Williams Winery started in 2007 with a temporary production facility in Hood River, OR and a small tasting room in Lyle, WA. As they grew into an award-winning winery, producing a larger variety of wines, Jacob Williams began building their new barrel room and tasting room out in Wishram, WA next to Avery Park. Now in their third year at this location, they are ready to expand. Phase two opens this summer; a delightful new tasting room that sits above the beautiful Columbia River with dramatic views of Mt. Hood and the surrounding rolling landscape of vineyards and orchards. Inside their new tasting room resides a large U-shape bar with cozy seating and to enhance the experience they also built a wraparound patio with outdoor seating to take full advantage of the outstanding view. Visit their new tasting room, take in the spectacular view, while enjoying award-winning wines that are finely crafted, exceptionally expressed, and made in limited quantities for the highest control of quality. It's an experience worth the spectacular journey through the stunning landscape of the Columbia Gorge.

We didn’t actually go to the wineries itself but tasted their wines in the tasting room in downtown McMinnville, Oregon. The staff there was so nice and accommodating. They even helped us to find a place to eat because we had just arrived to two and were very hungry. All of the wine we tasted was very good and we bought a couple bottles to take home.

Great wines and friendly staff. Best winery in Hood River area!!!
Stopped by and returned the next day with friends. All their wines were wonderful on the tasting flight. Crackers too!

Came to this “boutique”winery as part of a bus trip, so sadly, we basically overran their establishment. However, they were very friendly and welcoming and did an excellent job allowing everyone to do a wine tasting and explaining many of the various wines they produce. The wines were all very good (I especially enjoyed the reds!), and many in our group bought some bottles and inquired about joining their wine club. There is seating outside, overlooking the Columbia River Gorge and Mt. Hood...it was fabulous! There were also grapes on the vines all around the building that you’re encouraged to taste. They have some very nice wine-related items for purchase as well as meats, cheeses, jams and jellies, in addition to the wine.

Across the river on the Washington side east of Lyle, this winery rocks. Scrumptious wines, amazing hospitality and a sweet spot right on the river with picnic tables. This is definitely a place you’ll want to load up on any of their big reds. Kudos to Wine Club Manager Jenny Buckalew for her outstanding service in setting up a special tasting for my wine ed group – everyone loved, loved, loved the wines! Also, highly recommended by others in the industry - always an excellent indicator. My group had a truly wonderful experience.

Stopped by chance and glad we did. The setting overlooking the gorge was beautiful and only overshadowed by the quality of the wines and our gracious hostess. The wines were excellent. Reggie's knowledge and enthusiasm for the wines and winery elevated the tasting to another level. Was so impressed that we had several bottles shipped home. Thanks for a great visit!

Stopped on our road trip. Nice selection of wines. Tasting waived with purchase. They also have "antipasta" type foods. The smoked olives were amazing. Staff is nice.
If traveling by rv, there is some parking, but could be tight if the tasting room has multiple parties.

Great wine - Great views! When we are in the area we always stop and taste some of their great wine and then always take a bottle or two home. This time we decided we enjoyed their wine so much that we joined their wine club. Now when we can't get to their tasting room we will be having their wine delivered and will enjoy it at home.

My wife and I stopped in yesterday for the first time at Jacob Williams Winery. The tasting room attendant was second-to-none! She was friendly, knowledgeable and very welcoming. We have been to an innumerable number of wineries and this attendant was exceptional!! Both my wife and I were very impressed. We also thoroughly enjoyed the wines and of course, Sadie the wine dog. Overall, a great experience! We will be back.

The views of the Columbia River with Mount Hood in the background topped off the fine wines. My favorite was the 2010 Merlot, with an astonishing flavor. Best wine i have had for a long time.

I realize that we all have different tastes in wine and maybe our loyalty towards Brad and company might play a role in overlooking the unfinished facilities but you all need to know that their wine is some of the best in this region.

The best cabernet sauvignon and merlot around and rivals some of the best from Napa. If you have any experience with wine, you will definitely appreciate Jacob Williams.
