Paddles and Pints: Brewery Tour and Whitewater Rafting on the Wenatchee Rive

2 reviews
While in Washington, go whitewater rafting and beer tasting on an overnight camping tour on the Wenatchee River. The river is located about 2.5 hours east of Seattle in central Washington, near Wenatchee and Leavenworth. The tour includes a morning of whitewater rafting on class 3 rapids, a riverside lunch, an afternoon of beer tasting at three craft breweries, and overnight camping accommodations (camping equipment not included).

Fish ladders and park are outstanding and very interesting to look at and learn about. We were glad to see the old museum and visitor center in 2019 before they closed it to move everything off the dam. Check their website carefully if going as most of it will be closed for awhile as they renovate for a year or two. They told us the outside park area will not close.

This is a public, not Federal, facility so there are very nice gardens and park area leading to the dam's parking lot. Really neat to see the fish ladder from above and below. Informative museum, although I believe it is going away soon. Viewing gallery above generators is available. When I was there, 1 generator was apart for maintenance so interesting to see.

We stopped here twice. Once in the eveng to have a little picknic in the wonderfully maintained gardens and the next day to see the fish ladder and other attractions. Both times we were dilighted to be able to see Bighorn Sheep in the rocky craigs across the highway. There are telescopes set up to help you see them, but they are only about 75 yards away or closer. This is a wonderfull oasis to rest while on the Cascade Loop.

It was great to see the King salmon rushing through the fish ladder and it was also great to be able to see inside the main machine hall of the power plant. We loved the visit and the exhibits they also have there - . . . and it is free.
