As a seeker of well made cocktails and a lover of the Tiki Bar aesthetic - I recommend Tacoma Cabana for well researched and deftly made tropical cocktails. The Zombie here is one of the better iterations I've come across. However, I do not recommend the food very highly. It is pricey and not solid Hawaiian fare. If you want good Hawaiian food in Tacoma, go to Da Tiki Hut. Something to snack on...yes. A destination for a pu pu platter? Not so much. Week days are better than weekends if you want a quiet visit. Tacoma Cabana is at the center of a bunch of clubs/restos this side of Pacific Avenue. If you're looking for mindless, young 20-somethings shenanigans, this is your area of town. More mature folks may wish to skip on Fri and Sat nights.…

Rum and Rhum of all ages and styles and from all corners of the cane-growing world, Pu Pu Platters and Jerk Chicken and samples of food from the same locations, even a helping of Spam, all in an atmosphere of fun beach Tiki island décor. Any rum drink you want served any style is the offering. The bartender has won best bartender in Washington State, the background music is pure '60's retro music with an island beat. It adds up to lots of fun, good food, and a packed house on weekends. Its a good place for a first date so you can talk about all that is going on around you and have lots of laughs. It is small, so get there early when they open.…
