Treat your family to a special day at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium....

Treat your family to a special day at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium. Where else can you see seahorses and sharks, peacocks and penguins, wolves and walrus, all in one place? The 29-acre Zoo is large enough to offer an awesome array of animals yet small enough to let you get really close to them. Our keepers often roam the grounds, taking animals on strolls so you can see them up close. Who knows? You might run into a lynx on your way to see the polar bears! Be sure to visit Kids Zone. This fanciful exhibit engages children in active learning through play. The focus is on fun, movement and learning what animals need to thrive. The breathtaking views of Puget Sound, Mount Rainier and the Olympic Mountains are free - and so is the parking. So what are you waiting for? Bring your family to see ours. Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium is open at 9:30 a.m. daily. Closing times vary. Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium is just minutes off of I-5 in beautiful Point Defiance Park in Tacoma, WA.

Pt. Defiance Zoo is a wonderful way to spend time with your family and to learn about a wide variety of animals.

Great exhibits, interactive areas for kids, great kids play area and entertaining shows. Views of Puget Sound and Mt. Rainier are striking.

My husband and I visited here in August on a beautiful day. We got around to seeing everything we wanted to see (we didn't catch any of the shows as we got there later in the day) and enjoyed the otters and the monkeys. It's a nice zoo, not huge, but easy enough to do in a short time if... More

This a great zoo and park for all ages. I have visited many times with my wife, grandchildren and great grandchild. The zoo and aquarium is well laid out and maintained. Everyone should stay for the stage show. This show has animals and zoo staff in a great combination of fun and information. Again, great for all ages.

I am always a bit skeptical when I visit a new zoo or animal park whether the animals are looked after as they should be. Port Defiance Zoo and Aquarium seems to be looking after their animals extremely well. The zoo is fairly compact and all the exhibits are clean and well maintained. The keepers carrying out the many talks... More

My family and I had enjoy this outing, but it's not a very large aquarium and the zoo doesn't have much animals. Lots and lots property to walk lots of hills. But it's a beautiful park nice and clean.

Having been to dozens of zoos and aquariums around the world... Point Defiance would be considered a smaller zoo (intimate), but also very good. Some of the exhibits could use some tweaks to make them better (i.e. - more kid friendly, so that we don't have to keep picking up our kids and putting them back down, so that they... More

Not only can you go look at animals, there was also Zip-lines, Camel rides, and a shark tank. Sadly I didn't experience the shark tank, but hope to next time. The camel rides weren't the best, $6 to sit on a camel while a staff walks it in a circle. The Zip-line was cool though, definitely recommend that.

I've been here in the winter, when the polar bears are enjoying life, I've been to the holiday light show and I have been to visit all the wonderful baby animals as they are given a chance to meet the public. This is a well-designed zoo, with lots of education for all ages, and proper attention to the needs of... More

We came to Tacoma to see the new Clouded leopard kittens and spent over an hour watching them playing and interacting with one of their keepers. They were 4 months old and about 15 pounds each and were like furry wind-up toys. Very active and playful. The rest of the zoo was just frosting on the cake! This is an... More

Not a bad place for children, you will get a workout with all the walking from exhibit to exhibit. The place is a little outdated, but the animals seem well taken care off. They do have a food pavilion but the food is very expensive and not very good. I have been here several times and will keep going back.
