Description:

Treat your family to a special day at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium....

Treat your family to a special day at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium. Where else can you see seahorses and sharks, peacocks and penguins, wolves and walrus, all in one place? The 29-acre Zoo is large enough to offer an awesome array of animals yet small enough to let you get really close to them. Our keepers often roam the grounds, taking animals on strolls so you can see them up close. Who knows? You might run into a lynx on your way to see the polar bears! Be sure to visit Kids Zone. This fanciful exhibit engages children in active learning through play. The focus is on fun, movement and learning what animals need to thrive. The breathtaking views of Puget Sound, Mount Rainier and the Olympic Mountains are free - and so is the parking. So what are you waiting for? Bring your family to see ours. Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium is open at 9:30 a.m. daily. Closing times vary. Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium is just minutes off of I-5 in beautiful Point Defiance Park in Tacoma, WA.

Most exibits lacked animals. The exhibits were small, and for as large as their zoo was, it was lacking in animals/exhibits. The plus was that they had a lot of opportunities to touch animals, and their kids zone entertained our 2 year old. After it being highly recommended to us, we were very dissapointed, and still left wanting to see... More

We had such a great time recently. The show was fun. I love seeing the animals come on stage. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The twisty different flavored cone looked amazing. We hoped to get one but it's clear across the compound from the entrance. The merry go round was fun. The camel rides were ok. You only... More

I elected to go to the Port Defiance Zoo & Aquarium over the Woodland park zoo. I had the pleasure of bringing my twin 4 year olds who were very excited to go. Part of the problem was the time of day (midday) BUT.... The only animal that was actually easy to spot and standing was the Musk Ox. No... More

To be fair I must say that I believe that the zoo does its best to raise visitors' awareness of endangered species and our fragile environment. And I none of the talks that staff do happened during my visit. That said, walking around the zoo and looking for the animals left me mostly saddened by the condition of the facilities.... More

When I was kid, this was an amazing place to go - they had bears. Years ago, they sponsored a summer program called "Zoo Sounds" with (entry fee) entertainment, sitting on the grass with a picnic dinner, and the kids dancing. No more. They still have a beautiful Christmas event of "Zoo Lights", but I am no longer a fan... More

This is a whole day of fun if you plan to cover the whole zoo and aquarium. Take in the quiet exhibits and shows, or wander through on your own. There is plenty to see. The Zoo is expanding, so there is an area toward the back edge under construction, but it did not pose an issue for our group.... More

I went today. It was really good. I think the prices were lower, due to it being after summer. I've skipped many zoos due to the high cost. I like that I could purchase an all day pass for the aquarium and the zoo. The two elephants were active, the three tigers were also in rare form. The one monkey... More

This zoo is alright but it is rather small and overpriced. It's alright to check out but for a bit of a drive you can go to the Portland Zoo.

On a beautiful day in the Pacific Northwest, we drove down to Point Defiance. It took several hours to explore the beautiful zoo and aquarium. The landscaping is immaculate, the entry point view is stunning, and the staff is so friendly and helpful. We were lucky to see the Spotted Leopard Cubs with their ZooKeeper. They are so adorable and... More
