The car pull off is on top of columnar basalt that goes down into the Washington side of the Columbia River, east of Vancouver on Highway 14, between Vancouver and Skamania Lodge.

You need your wits about you when you do this climb. Lots of loose pebbles and roots. Pay attention. Plenty of steep ascent for the first part of this trip. Levels out eventually and then you get to the beautiful overlook which makes any huffing...More

This is a excellent view area of the Columbia River Gorge from the North side of the river. Actually there are a number of every good view points.

We stopped off on our way home from Skamania lodge to take in the view at Cape Horn Lookout. This is one of the most spectacular views of the Columbia River Gorge. MUST SEE
