I ended up taking a solitary vacation in Stevenson, WA this past weekend & was trying to figure out what to do. Somebody brought up the Zip Line Tour at Skamania Lodge. Luckily they had a spot open the next day. The group I was with with a fun group consisting of 4 female adult friends with one of the friend's daughter, a couple and myself for a total of 8 people. I am sorry to say I forgot the name of the guides but they were very friendly and were able to clearly instruct people to be safe & have a great time. The banter in between lines was friendly and mostly humorous which helped add to the experience. My only complaint would be that it didn't last longer but I think I could zip from tree to tree all day if possibly. I highly recommend this activity to anybody who needs a bit of adventure.

I gave 4 stars not because of my experience Ziplining, that was amazing and will for sure do again! I gave 4 stars because of the guy that sits at that front desk taking signatures and checking people in. My reservation was at 1 and on a "normal" day per say, it takes only 20 min or less to get to Skamania Lodge from where I live in Washougal. Road construction had just started right where the wild life refuge is on hwy 14, so we had to sit in that for a few min then traffic moved through but you can NEVER plan ahead for driver's that do not drive the speed limit! I noticed we were going to be a little late so I called to let them know we will be 10 min late. We get there 10 min late, and the guy checking people in was so incredibly rude, rushing us through the paperwork, threw my friend purse behind him on the floor, kept saying rude remarks and embarrassing us in front of the group that was waiting for us, and then snatched the emergency contact sheet from my 12 yr old son and said " really dont have time for someone to sign this" and rushed us away!! I couldn't believe how rude he was and we were so embarrassed!! He would be the ONLY reason I either wouldn't recommend to my friends/family, or go there again.

I don't normally write reviews. First time zip lining for my wife and I. We had a total blast!! 7 zip lines for 99 bucks and 20 bucks off for military discount. Outstanding value for the fun that you will have. Staff was so professional, fun, upbeat and patient. I will not lie, I was scared out of my wits with the heights. However the harness equipments is very sturdy, you are secured the entire course to safety cables and the course is structured so it works it's way up from comfortable lower to higher platforms and very short lines to long lines. So you slowly graduate up 7 zip lines. If it's your first time or you have little kids then this is your zip line course. Some of the little kids were scared however the staff was amazing, caring, patient and reassuring with them and doubled them up to zip with a staff member and they had the kids all confidently and fearlessly zipping solo by the end of the course. You will be standing on elevated platforms with no railing, you will be secured with your harness to safety cables for the entire course. Advice; wear loose fitting cargo shorts or pants that have pockets that you can secure your phone and other personal items in, otherwise leave it all in your car. Sun glasses yes!! No backpacks. No open toe sandals. You can easily hold your phone and video yourself while zipping. Depending on your group size you will be there 2 plus hours so make sure to hydrate and use the bathroom prior. Also remember some cash to tip your staff members with. 20 bucks is a fair tip and they earn every bit of it. I tipped 40, staff was 70 percent of the fun. You need to make reservations in advance. Get there 30 minutes early. Have fun!!!

Our group was a bunch of first time axe throwers. We figured it would be fun, but we honestly thought we might get bored of it after 30 minutes.
Shane was awesome and kept everyone engaged. He gave great tips to everyone on how to improve their throws and directed a great mix of games to give everyone a chance to shine.
Instead of getting bored, we were all disappointed to hear our time was up.
I highly recommend the axe throwing and think Shane did a great job to enhance the experience.

Our family of 3 made a last minute reservation to go Zip Lining with Skamania Lodge Adventures on Monday, 10/12/2020 at 10 am. Turned to to be one of the best decisions we've made for a family adventure. We were the only participants on our tour and received excellent, personalized guide service from Lori & Jonathan. Lori has such a bubbly personality and she took me (the old timer at 65) under her wing and was so encouraging and patient. Jonathan is fun also but is more concerned about safety (as he should be) and he hit it off with my husband and 21 year old son.
the 7 zip lines and 3 sky bridges were a blast. The auto-belay took me a couple of minutes to get up the nerve to step off the platform into thin air but it also was a blast once accomplished. I would recommend Skamania Lodge Adventures to everyone. You will not be disappointed. We'll do it again in a heartbeat if we get back to the area again. Thanks to everyone we interacted with at Skamania!!!

My husband and I had a blast. It was our first time going and we would go back in a heartbeat. Our guides Albert and Savannah were great at making us laugh and feel at ease. We had a young kid in our group of adults and they made him feel like a rockstar even though he was scared. I would highly recommend.

We took our kids (10 years old) zip lining for the first time over spring break, and one of my kids was absolutely terrified and full of fear and anxiety about it, but we knew it would be a positive experience if he could face his fears. Lori and Sam were absolutely outstanding guides that made my son feel safe and comfortable and by the end of the trip he was beaming with smiles. Our guides went above and beyond to ensure it would be a great experience for my kids, and it was! As for the rest of us, we all had a blast and felt very safe and cared for the entire time. I recommend this 100% to anyone looking for a great family experience in an absolutely stunning setting!

This is was our first time on a zip line and we were nervous. This is an excellent company. The sisters we had as guides were very well prepared and enforced mask wearing and distancing. They were calm, knowledgeable, professional and friendly. I am very afraid of heights and I would not have made it the entire course without their encouragement! Highly recommend.

We tried Zipline in northern and Southern California and in Maui but this one was the best experience out of them all! They have 7 lines, some of them very long, some fast ,3 suspension bridges and more surprises. The guides were excellent - very personable and made sure everyone was feeling safe .the only comment I had was that they need to add more water stations - they had only one and that wasn’t enough in a hot and humid summer day.otherwise , highly recommended

Thanks Laurie and Kennedy!
The tour was amazing. Your ability to convey the safety and comfort to all on the tree top tour was top notch. We celebrate a 10th birthday with breath-taking views and an ability to feel free to 'fly' thanks to your enthusiasm and expertise on this zip line adventure. We will be back.

Has anyone done the summer NIGHT-TIME zipline? How was it?
Shayne L

Since nobody has answered as a guest I can tell you as the operator they are super fun! We start by decorating your harnesses and helmets with glow sticks and then you enjoy the sunset and moonlit skies throughout the tour. We keep the group at 8 persons rather than 10 so we can move through a little quicker and still get the same thrill. Probably the most unique part about night zipping is not knowing when the end of the zip is coming as the guides stay dark. They all feel longer and faster at night and less scary as you cannot see how high up you are. Come join us, only a few weeks left!

Is it customary to tip the guides?
Shayne L
1 contribution
Long answer,
Very good responses and thanks to all that tip their guides! We know it is not a discount tour and the majority of the money you spend goes to implementing the highest quality construction, gear and equipment, as well as training in the industry.
We do suggest tipping your guides in your confirmation email. They all work very hard not just to ensure a positive experience, but to keep you safe as well. As not all jobs include the inherent risks of ziplining, it is essential that our staff is very highly trained, including many skills that you will never see on a standard tour.
We are a separate family owned business from Skamania Lodge (whom we cannot thank enough for their partnership) and we appreciate and care about all of our guests. Our sentiment is that if you felt safe, had a great time, and believe our wonderful guides enhanced the experience, and if it's in your budget, then yes please give them a little extra. Note: guides may accept cash or we can add a gratuity to your cc.
Cheers,
Shayne and Char

What is the minimum recommended age. My daughter just turned 8 and really wants to try it. I see the minimum weight is 60 lbs, but nothing about age.
Shayne L

We have a strict 60 lb minimum weight limit. We do not have an age requirement as kids may reach 60 lbs at different ages and the weight is more important for their safety.

If you are staying at the lodge do you have to buy tickets for the zip line? If so how much is it?
Aimee Dickson
Tualatin, OR3 contributions
Yes. The zip line, aerial park and axe throwing are all run by Skamania Lodge Adventures which is not part of the lodge, though they have an office on-site. They also have a website where you can book. When we went the zip line was $79 per person, as was the aerial park but it was January. Axe throwing was $30.

If you have any concerns about your neck, you should contact your doctor for a professional nod prior to making your reservation. The staff members are experts, who are constantly aware of everyone's safety and enjoyment while zipping. As a mature woman, I always felt secure with departing and landing!

Their website (zipnskamania) says there are no age limits, but does mention the minimum weight is 60 lbs.
