a very recommended to stop by for 10-15 mins only while going to leavenworth or to lake wenatchee from Seattle. dont go only to see this fall, because it is a very small one and not worth the 2 hours drive.

It is decent falls with a small trail, beautiful surroundings. It has very small viewing area, but worth stopping over if you are on way to Leavenworth/Wenatchee from Seattle. It doesnt warrant a dedicated trip from Seattle though. Spend max of 15-30 mins here.

I am a "collector" of waterfalls. We were expecting only a pleasant little stop at Deception Falls: It far surpassed our expectations: Interesting falls with multiple viewpoints, especially enjoyed the meander through the mossy woods. Some stairs, nothing at all difficult; would be really nice for families.

We were traveling down highway 2 to Leavenworth 3 years ago and were tired of driving. Saw a stop on the left that said Deception Falls, decided to pull in. This was one of the highlights of our whole trip! Had no idea what was there. A beautiful spot, great flowing waterfall. I went back this year. Still as good as I remember. If you're traveling down 2 and see the sign you MUST stop and check it out! Would even make a specific trip to see it! Also some nice trails to hike.

This is one of my favorite places on Earth. I used to stop here from time to time as a child when I would visit Washington family (I lived in New Mexico at the time) and the falls took my breath away. I moved up to the Seattle area a few years ago and imagine my surprise when I realized that there is a wonderful trail system throughout the area with many neat features. The park changes depending on the amount of water and the more water the better! You can see 2 different water sources (Deception Creek and the Tye River) with some unique areas including the falls (under the highway) and a cool spot where the river tumbles over a ledge, hits a rock and turns 90 degrees to continue. SO COOL. Great place to take kids, parents, loved ones, ANYONE. I don't go through the pass without stopping here anymore.

On Hwy 2 heading east past Skykomish is a popular, easy hike I'd never noticed until I experienced it with a group on a perfect fall day. Shimmering through the tall evergreens, sunshine illuminated lovely miniature gardens of fern, fungi and moss along the trail. But the real thrill was first hearing, then seeing the white rushing water of the Skykomish River as it cascaded down what turned out to be an amazing series of falls punctuated by sections of smoother water. What fun it was crossing a long log bridge stepping along the wide horizontal Douglas fir flatted for our feet. Several stairways down landed us on wood platforms showcasing tumultuous falls and lending good photo opportunities. Could it be these falls were named "deception" due to expecting only one and finding there were several falls and that they were not completely vertical? Whatever the reason for the name, this is a gem of a hike through marvelous old growth forest. The loop trail itself is about 1/2 mile, but by the time we returned to the car my pedometer said I'd walked almost 3 miles.

Don't short yourself, Do the full walk around the ENTIRE trail. It is not that long, probably a mile or so at most but really nice.

This is a must see for locals who have not experienced the falls as well as out of town guests to Hiway 2.
HEADS UP! The USFS or the ranger district has chosen NOT TO OPEN the parking lot and restroom facilities this year (2019) due to a funding shortfall. You can park in front of the locked gate or along Hiway 2.

Deception Falls is right on the north side of the highway, clearly marked. It is not on forest Service road 6088, as Google maps will tell you.
That said, worth the stop. Awesome!

The GPS had us turn the wrong direction , we ended on a steep mountain road that was not maintained. Once we were able to turn around we continued down Highway 2 toward Leavenworth . We found Deception Falls farther down the road on the opposite side. I am sharing this information for safety. The actual area is now closed with barricades across the parking lot.
