Was a cold and rainy day on Jan. 26, 2020, It was rather late in the season for eagles, but the hearty group of 6 plus our guide, Sam, were more than ready to brave the elements to spot the last of the elusive creatures and we did. The craft was supplied very well with hot cocoa and coffee for everyone and had heaters onboard to help take some of the chill away. Sam was very well versed on the area and the animals that inhabit it and his conversation was lively and entertaining. Not only did we see eagles, but also a full arced rainbow that developed into a full doubled arced rainbow, wow ! The float was a success with everyone staying within the boat and a great time was had by all.

This is the best place in USA for bald eagle photography, we are from Wisconsin but we traveled almost every year for the last 5, Wayne is an excellent guide and friend. The photography that we obtain here are outstanding, I am traveling to different states and places but this is the gold place if you have the right equipment as the weather could be freezing rain or beautiful sunrays with clouds, we will keep coming here regularly, if you check youtube efrainsueldo wildflie photography, you will find videos and photos from this gem. Facebook is loaded with photos from here.

It was a cold day in December but with the heaters in the boat, no problem. The float was serene and beautiful. We saw numerous eagles and then we went through eagle alley and saw at least 40. The guide saw more but he had better eyes. The eagles were sitting on the beach, sitting in the trees, sitting on the top of the trees, and flying. An amazing experience.

Dec 2019
I booked a $75 tour in March 2019 for the first available date, in November 2019. The tour group called me in November asking to reschedule my tour to another date, in December, and I complied (apparently not enough people had signed up for my preferred date to make it financially prudent for the company). My tour in December started at 1:00, and, since I was driving over two hours from Seattle to the location, I ended up arriving a few minutes late, at 1:07 (I didn't have cell phone reception for the last half hour of my trip to call and let the company know that I would be late). The group was gone by then, and according to a forest ranger at the location, they had left at 1:04pm. I drove several miles to the launch site up the river, and was able to catch the guide and the van. However, I was told that the second guide and boat had been sent home, and that there was no space for me left on the remaining boat. My only option was to make my 2+ hour drive back home.

I called to get a refund and was told that that was not an option. So after rescheduling for the company's convenience, I wasted a Saturday driving and lost $75 (plus money spent on gas).

Our cancellation policy is strict and no shows are a cancellation. That being said we do everything we can to accommodate our clients and strive to be a 5 star company in all aspects of our business. One of those aspects is to make sure we leave on time so that the whole tour has an enjoyable and positive experience. If you would have called we would have intruded on the other clients time (to a point). We wont wait just in case a no show might show up. This is our side of the story: We did call you in November to advise you of the bird count and asked if you would prefer to go at a later date when the eagle numbers would be higher. (At that time the bird count was only 10 birds. The bird count for the December trip was in the 150 range.) You chose to reschedule it. We would have taken you regardless of the count if that is what you would have wanted. Our confirmation email that was sent to you states that you are to arrive and check in at 12:45 for a 1pm departure. We did not receive a phone call from you that you were running late. We attempted to call you at 1pm before we departed at 1:04pm (we waited 4 minutes for you but did not want to keep the rest of the guests waiting) especially since we had no idea if you were going to get there or not. When you called and spoke to Melissa at about 5pm you advised her that you did not arrive at the meeting location until 1:16pm. ( which means you were a half hour late) You also advised her that you spoke to the eagle watcher volunteer and they told you where we launch in Marblemount. When you arrived at the put-in our guide did not have room for you as the other boat and guide had been sent home, leaving just one boat and enough seats for the remainder of the guests. During your call to Melissa that night she offered you to take a future tour at no charge, she was interrupted by vulgar language and then hung up on.

A snowy, cold morning gave this Florida couple second thoughts about proceeding with our private float trip, but SO glad we followed through. Our guide, Josh, ensured that we were toasty warm along the way, manning the seat heaters like the pro he is! The time we spent virtually alone with a dozen or more eagles, drinking hot chocolate while fluffy white snowflakes floated around us, was nothing short of magical, an experience I will never forget. We never even thought about being cold as we listened to the eagles' calls echoing all around us. Many thanks to all the staff who took such good care of us, especially Melissa who personally delivered my left-behind binoculars, in a snowstorm nonetheless! Personal service all around WAY beyond my expectations. Highly recommend Skagit River Guide Service!!!

I can't say enough good things about the company, the staff and the experience itself! We were on again/off again because of winter storms in the area, possible flooding, etc. Luke (delightful river guide) went out of his way to call me on more than one occasion to detail what was going on with river conditions and the eagles so that we could make the best and safest decision about when to go. We had such a beautiful trip down the river. We saw at least 100+ eagles along the course of the trip, many flying over us and around us. Such abundance! The boats are really comfortable...comfortable individual swivel seats with good back support, heaters and a very relaxed and able guide enhanced our float in such a beautiful place. Rain came and went but didn't detract from our experience. Highly recommend the trip and the company!

This was my 3rd or 4th time doing the Jet-Sled eagle tour on the Skagit River in WA. Due to recent heavy rains and snowmelt, the river level had risen the week earlier and washed away most of the salmon carcasses that attracts the eagles this time of year, so the number of eagles was way down from my previous trips. Over 200 sightings in the past to maybe 30 or 40 this trip. Despite the low numbers, our boat driver did an excellent job of maximizing the viewing and photography opportunities. He was very thorough in walking us through the safety items with the boat and what to expect during the trip. He made sure throughout that we were all comfortable, and asked when and if to move on to scout for additional eagles, or stay on the few that we were watching.

The beauty of the Jet-sled trip vs. the standard float trip is that the jet-sled is able to go up and down stream, hover in place, even in fast moving water, allowing the boat to stay close to the action on the river banks. This maneuverability , despite the low number of eagles, allowed us all to get some great shots of the eagles.

I did both the Jet Sled Photography Tour and the Skagit River Eagle Viewing Tour (Float/Drift). I took lots of pictures and we had approximately 40 eagles on each trip.
Both Skagit River Tours/Triad personnel were always professional, safety conscious, and sometimes very humorous. A special thanks to Luke, Nels, and Ethan at Skagit River Eagle Tours as they took care of everything. Definitely going to be a repeat customer...many thanks for making it a memorable day!! Took the trip twice on my vacation. Both morning and afternoon on Feb 11th, 2023. While the eagle population was dwindling, the guide (Nells) was top flight, thoughtful, funny and helpful. I wouldn't hesitate to go again...earlier in the season. :)

Luke our guide was fantastic! He informed us of our journey, was friendly, engaging, asked and received questions from all aboard, we saw at least 20+ eagles, heaters to warm us, and Luke made the whole boating experience a delight. Will definitely tell our friends and family, and return again. Thanks Skagit River Eagle Tours. Lee & Robin
