Interesting bit. Not Jimi's grave, but a memorial. Fun for a Jimi fan. Crosstown Driving is a hassle, but that might just be Seattle traffic

Easy to find. Beautiful tribute. Definitely worth the 15 min drive from Seattle. After spending short time here headed to Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park (5 mins away) for a few hours.

This is an outstanding memorial and tribute to a rock and roll legend, Jimi Hendrix. When you park in the memorial parking, you will walk towards your right and the memorial stands alone. The memorial contains numerous pictures of Jimi, as well as guitar tombstone. This is a good place to visit if you are a fan of Jimi Hendrix's music and his rock and roll legacy.

It was worth the trip. The grounds are lovely with a lot of other sites to see. Highly recommended, and take a rubbing!

"Hey Joe", If you are a rock musician, this is the place to be (just about 20 minutes from downtown).

If you are a guitarist bring a pick to leave in the monument's giant guitar

I have been here before by myself. This time I took my partner, in the snow. It’s truly a cool place to see and experience. Easy to get to with options around for other things to experience. Worth it if you’re a fan.

Always revered Jimi Hendrix as I am also a guitar player. It was a solemn and wonderful experience visiting his grave all these years. I think I prefer it back when it was a simple gravestone. It was a simple Granite stone with his name and the date and the grass was worn and muddied all around it from people walking and paying their respects. There were always flowers and offerings at the site.

However now, it's been turned into a bit of a temple and I don't think Hendrix would have approved. From what I understand he was a very simple down-to-earth guy. Remember, he was a hippie and really didn't care for Earthly possessions. The only reason I give this five-stars as out of my respect for the man himself. The shrine they have built is a bit ridiculous

One of the best grave sites for a rock and roll star.

Part one is the memorial for someone who has touched our musical hearts. This is a very thoughtful tribute which does a fantastic job. It's not just a headstone or a crypt. It is a compact tribute which shows respect for the others laid to rest in greenwood memorial. It is also a wonderful visual display of what Jimi Hendrix was. You can see all the pictures so I'm not going to spoil the experience by describing what you'll see.

I'm intimately knowledgeable about the resting place for another guitarist Duane Allman. Many decades of experiencing a loving memorial to both Duane Allman and Berry Oakley (bassist for The Allman Brothers Band) which has now turned into the final resting place of Gregg Allman as well as Butch trucks from The Allman Brothers band. Decades of a small bit of internal family strife but of loving fans coming to pay tribute. Sometimes appropriately and sometimes inappropriately which ruined the open intimacy of the original ridge where they are buried. Now there is a large wrought iron fence around their graves which still allows for a fan to come and visit but compared to the Jimi Hendrix memorial seems to imprison those resting there. Still if you're in Macon Georgia... Central Georgia... It's well worth a visit to the site.

In contrast though the Jimi Hendrix memorial is wide open. You can walk through the cupola that provides shelter from the constant Seattle rain to read in the descriptions and see statues of very appropriate things relating to Jimi.

I really didn't notice a whole lot of security but I assume it's there in a way that respects both Jimmy and everyone else at greenwood.

the seven times I've been there there's always been some fans that traveled from a long way who get a little bit selfish about standing in the way of other people's pictures. But you know if Jimi Hendrix made a difference in your life and you traveled a long way to come see the memorial I can understand the experience being about you and Jimi and some people just completely getting lost in their experience and forgetting about others who want to have the same experience.

There's no trash, there's no leave behinds that a fan would think is cool to them that really ruins the granite finish. It seems like no one is going there in the middle of the night and drinking and even screwing as happens at other memorials....
or if there is there's someone going everyday and cleaning up whatever is left over.

All in all this is a fantastic monument to a fantastic guitar player, a pioneer of rock and roll and from what I read a good person.

So this monument is in southeast Seattle in a town called Renton. Also in downtown Seattle there is a four or five foot statue of Jimi Hendrix on his knees playing guitar which you can find by googling Jimi Hendrix statue in Seattle.

Googling Jimi Hendrix in Seattle will also get you some sights other sites that fans can go and see.

Found out this was just a few miles from my hotel, it is a small memorial park and very well kept. The grave site is beautiful and visited often as you can tell from the gifts left for this legend. Only takes a few minutes if you're in the area, worth the stop
