A great spot to spend some relaxing time
Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park is a public park located in Renton, Washington along the southeastern shore of Lake Washington. According to Wikipedia, it consists of 57 acres of land and water, including 5 acres of grass and 5,400 feet of shoreline. I spent the better part of an afternoon here in May 2021. The park is off Lake Washington Boulevard near the Southport Drive exit of the I-405 freeway. If you’re familiar with either The Landing center or the Boeing facility in Renton, the park is a little north of those spots. There is a good deal of parking, with an area near the boat launch dedicated to boat trailers. NOTE that this is a popular park, so bring your patience as the parking can fill up quickly. There is a walkway where many people take strolls, a large grassy area where you can spread your blanket and enjoy a picnic, a lot of benches and tables at which you can sit, a gazebo if you want a covered area, a couple of restaurants (Ivar’s and Kidd Valley) with both indoor and outdoor seating, a relatively small sandy beach, a playground, and a dock/walkway that extends over the water. There is also a marked interpretative walk and some impressive outdoor sculptures. The day I was at the park the weather was mild, the water was fairly calm, a few people were fishing off the dock, people were strolling, ducks and geese were hanging around, and a light breeze was blowing. It was all pretty idyllic, and it pained me to have to leave and head to the airport. If I have the time the next time I visit Renton, I’ll definitely be back!

    Loved It!
Because I was staying at the nearby Hyatt Regency Lake Washington, I (and anyone else there) had smooth access to the Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park, just steps away from the hotel’s refined facade. The park is simply gorgeous. It winds from the southern tip of Lake Washington (i.e. where the hotel is) all the way up the eastern shore of the lake, and a walking trail continues further into the Bellevue area. The park may appear quite small, but the length of it is really impressive and offers spectacular views (many views) of the pristine Pacific Northwest terrain. Amenities for visitors include free parking, restroom stations, docks for boats and fishing, picnic tables, playgrounds, and two small eateries; do note that during COVID-19, these spaces were closed off (except some restrooms, parking, and docks). Plan accordingly when you travel during the virus...the park is excellent for practicing social distancing, but just don’t get your hopes up with anything else than walking on trails! With the great location and magnitude of natural wonders, I highly encourage folks to make a stop at the Gene Coulon Beach Park when in the Seattle area. No need to spend all day, but make sure you get as much out of it as you can. Check it out!

    Brilliant outdoor space!
Absolutely, hands down, a fantastic place to visit...walk along the water, play on the massive playscape, eat at the docks, swim, observe nature. Our one hour turned into a half a day a d repeat the next day.

We live close enough to walk to this park. We ordered food online and as soon as we walked toward the park with our small leashes dog, animal control was sitting there giving us some speAch about a $250 fine. Completely ridiculous. We pay taxes for Renton, we are responsible dog owners who pick up after our dog. There are so many worse things going on in the world right now than a dog in a park. Unfreaking believable.

This park is busy even at its slowest, while a nice enough place to enjoy lunch, the restrooms have been locked since winter, no place for sanitation so you know where people are going! Not cool, if you are going to allow huge crowds even during Covid you need to clean the place up and provide for sanitation. If you want to play tennis or volleyball be prepared to wait, whoever is on the court stays on the court until they are tired, no one follows the signs to release the court after one hour. More courts need to be built. No one and I mean no one follows the no dogs on the beach and they leave things on the beach too. Just know before you go!

Coming from the Jersey Shore I find most other beaches to be underwhelming... But this was a great place to spend a few hours after visiting Jimi Hendrix grave (5 mins away). Beach area, playground for kids and area to have a nice walk.

Gene Coulon park is located close to Boeing in Renton. It has a wonderful trail that any arborist would love and is a fun place to exercise. There is a wonderful playground for young children with swings, slides, climbing forts, etc. In the summer you can rent paddle boats, canoes, or you can sunbathe on the beach or swim. The sunset is truly remarkable over Lake Washington. If you get hungry, there are two restaurants right in the park: Kid Valley and Ivars Seafood Bar. When you finish your day, the movie theatre and shopping exerience are just a short distance away. Fun for the whole family, a couple, or a single person. View the fireworks on the fourth of July or see the Christmas lights - it's a wonderful experience whenever you go. But go early if going in the summer, as parking is limited.

I love this park and have been going there for years. The only complaint I have is that I can't bring my dog. There are plenty of other parks nearby that are dog friendly though...

This is a very nice park located in Renton on Lake Washington. It's a little early to go swimming but you could play tennis...or just bring a picnic on a sunny spring day.

This could be a really nice park at the South end of Lake Washington. We have gone there for years now they have banned dogs from the park even if they are leashed. The police officer ask us to leave because we had our dog with us, she is a mini poodle and on a leash. According to him the dog will bother the waterfowl, but having people in the swimming beach won't. I guess the boat launch won't bother them either.
The park has lots of automobile parking, and great paths to walk while taking in the views of the lake.
So I would like to know why a Renton Police officer wearing a bullet proof jacket is worried about my poodle in the park or are they having other problem because other wise it is a waste of money to have them there!

Started with some Chowder at Ivar's, then burned it off walking the path. Very clean and in the sun was a comfortable temperature. Lot of families taking family photos - gorgeous backdrop, but they did get in the way.

My favorite walking course in south side of Seattle. It has paved path, two restaurants, great view of lake Washington, boat launch, sand beach and few shelters along the path and more. Locals gather here whenever weather is good.

Nice facility and nice launch area. However for a larger boat trailer good luck finding a place to part or being have to un-park and leave without unhooking your trailer and manually pushing it out or having to drive through flower beds that I saw others do on memorial weekend. Also, there's is no good area to pull out and do tie down and clean up without blocking other cars. Probably great if you have a 20' or less boat. But if 25' and up it seems it will get exponentially worse.
