Live history tour! The best part is the museum admission is included in the price of the walking tour.$10 for adults $5 for children *maybe I can't find my receipt. Our guide was very knowledgeable about local history. She is able to customize the tour to the guests that attend (all while wearing a beautiful Victorian dress hat and gloves... More

As others have said in their reviews, this museum has a lot of local history. The first stop is a video, with some interesting information regarding the area and the people. This is one of three small museums run by the local historical society. A lot of information regarding the local industries and resources that made Port Townsend famous and... More

I spent a glorious two hours or more, just exploring this old firehouse/courtroom turned into a Museum. The choices as you walked into the Courtroom, now housing major exhibits of native American art, gave me cause for a pause. I chose the jailhouse exhibit and I was very surprised at what was on display.

Cool little museum. Nicely interpreted. Good photos although the video was not operational. The Port Townsend area has some very interesting history.

A very friendly staff to greet you, and a nice gift shop awaits you. This is still a working city council building, and you are invited to go into the chambers during off hours to explore. Along with a good history display of the town, there is also an ongoing art exhibit in the gallery area. The old city jail... More

The old city hall building that houses this museum is interesting to look through. It has a decent history section with many old photographs. Downstairs, where the old jail is located was interesting. Also, be sure to see the old bank vault in the gift store area.

Great for history buffs; ok for art fans, some nice historic photos. Don't miss the jail in the basement ...its the best part of the visit.

The walking tour of the downtown area is most interesting and will definitely add to your enjoyment of Port Townsend. The tour starts at the Jefferson Museum of Art and History located at the City Hall building and operates from May to October. The tour guide stops very often to explain the many sites and to tell many interesting anecdotes.... More
