On a fall day when it is time for the harvest, this seems like a great place to visit. They offer a wine tasting for $3 and have a medium range selection of wines from Washington State, most areas outside of Jefferson County. It was an interesting experience.

There are a growing number of small wineries on the peninsula with a nice variety of wines to taste. The FairWinds tasting room is located just outside of town and a fun way to try some of their wines. The tasting is very reasonable ($5 for 2 people!) for about 6 wines. All the wines are available for sale in the small gift shop. You might also try Eaglemount Wine and Cider tasting room. It's a little harder to get to, but they also have some nice wines and great ciders.

After being in Port Townsend for a few days, we eventually ended up tasting some wine. FairWinds Winery was our last stop, and certainly the best. We were the only customers, so got all the winemaker's attention and he provided with a wicked sense of humor, tastes of all his mighty fine wines. It was hard to choose a favorite, so we bought 3 bottles. Not that it really matters, but the label is appealing as well. If you enjoy good wines, this stop is a must-do.

I attend this wee county fair every year and enjoy seeing the locals', their produce, flowers, art, quilts and farm animals. My favorite must see is baby pigs. Plan at least a couple hours. Very relaxing, and you can get a free plastic bucket (for whatever) in the commercial barn.

A family reunion to do. They were welcoming even though there was lots of us. They even took us out back and showed us the process. The wines ranged. The white was great and the big seller for our group was the blend. The price to taste can't be beat. Five dollars for a couple.

We visited as part of the wine tour and were very pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere and genuine caring by our hosts. They truly wanted to share their winery and explain what makes them unique. The offer a wide variety of wines and we had to narrow our choices down making tough picks. We also sampled their mead which is not often found at wineries and it is one of their signature products.

The wine could be better. We like to taste on the Wine and Chocolate etc. kinds of weekends. Keep it up but work on the wine itself please.
