A historic cinema in downtown Port Townsend, with the best in current film, cult flicks and classics. The auditorium and facade feature gorgeous details from the Rose's day as a vaudeville house, dating back to 1907. With delicious popcorn, plus beer and wine and and a beautiful collection of film photos, the Rose is truly a one-of-a-kind experience. Like no other small town theatre you've seen. Worth a visit even if you're not going to a movie!

The proprietor Rockie Friedman brings in great movies, large and small. His selection is flawless, and in tune with current sensibilities. Some art movies, some current Hollywood movies, and some small movies you may see nowhere else. There are three screening rooms - two on the ground level, and one on the 3rd floor - the Starlight Room - for... More

I love vintage movie theaters, and the Rose is the best I've ever visited. First of all, the movies are first run. You can tell the community loves this theater; on the day I went it was sold out. Come early or be prepared to make friends with strangers! I will definitely be back to see a movie in the... More

Fairly small venue but clean and well maintained. The upstairs Starlight room was fully booked so we were in a downstairs theatre.

We saw "eagle huntress" which was sort of a documentary. We were given a preview that indicated it might have been "westernized" a bit too much. However, we did enjoy it. The theatre had 3 choices - all great. They were each small but nicely done & made you feel like on of the locals! Recommend it highly. Also concessions... More

Every time we come to Port Townsend, we take in a movie at the Rose Theatre. Although the building has not changed in many years, the movies are current. The building is well maintained with interesting architecture, photos, and small details. Will definitely be back!

I love the Rose Theatre. Everytime I visit the Rose it brings me back to Sunday afternoons in the 70's with my parents with our trips to Seattle at the Harvard Exit. I treasure those memories and enjoy every visit to the Rose. This theater is perfect for the movie experience. The food , the ambience, the quality and care... More

Fun, funky and glamorous is the best way to describe the Rose Theater. You get the whole vintage vibe from the minute you walk through the doors. There is usually only one movie to chose from in either theater including the upstairs Star Light Room. You will not be disappointed. The Star Light Theater has beautiful comfy vintage chairs and... After sightseeing and shopping in this charming port town, with its restored Victorian buildings and one-of-a-kind boutiques, catch a movie in this lovingly restored old vaudeville theater that shows first-run and art-house movies. The most fun is to catch a flick in the upstairs Starlight Room, where the audience lounges on vintage sofas and armchairs, sipping wine and snacking on... More

Whenever I'm in Port Townsend, I try to see a film at the Rose--preferably in the beautiful upstairs theater space with seating on comfortable Victorian chairs and couches and food by the wonderful Silverwater Cafe. Every viewing there feels like a film festival experience, with smart introductory comments by a talented staffer.

Comfy vintage theater, but the popcorn is the best: you can do naked, olive oil, garlic, butter of course, parmesan, pepper, even nutritional yeast! Ban the bad stuff, theater popcorn is back in my life!
