The attendant was not friendly, the workers had flooded the area of the camp site where the rv door opens... yet the grass/lawn is dry as a bone. I picked up trash in this area upon arrival.

Beautiful park and well maintained, but the camp hosts, not so much. Drove in late afternoon (5 p.m.) on a Sunday and was told by the camp host that they would "see what they could do about finding a spot." In walking about the grounds there were no less than 15 to 20 empty sites-- not all tent sites to be sure, but quite far from full. I could certainly understand holding a reservation earlier in the day, but at the end of the afternoon on a Sunday? After flapping around a bit, they begrudgingly assigned me a site, and told me that someone would be around shortly to pick up the fee. Nobody ever showed. The Benton County guy who came around the the next morning to collect the fee, however, was very nice. That said, the walk up to the Butte was beautiful, and the other campers were very nice. A beautiful place to stay were it not for the shabby treatment by the camp hosts.…

Stayed just one night. Pretty windy but rests along the river. Full service and the campground hosts were a little grumpy, but maybe they just had a bad day. Restrooms and showers very clean.

We had been to Crow Butte years ago, and back then one could park in the parking lot and then hike a fairly nice little trail (albeit a dirt trail) up the mountain for some great views. When we went this time it was apparent that some updates had been made to the park and the RV/camping area. We couldn't find the trail, though. Finally found a park employee who said the trail we were looking for started inside the RV/camping area, and to go in there we would have to pay the camping/RV fee. Say WHAT? Also, there was a parking fee just to park in the regular parking lot at the park if you were going to be there for more than a few minutes. I realize the park probably is trying to make some money to help with continued upkeep and maintenance, but it's a park, for heaven's sake, and we certainly should not have to pay extra just to access and hike the trail there. When we were there, there was no one staffing the main entrance to the park, but it looked like they normally charge just to get into the park, too. That just seems like a major rip-off to me. It's quite a drive from almost anywhere, so to get there and then be expected to pay to park and to pay even more just to get to the hiking trail - well, that just seems greedy and unacceptable to me as a citizen and taxpayer. Too bad. We really enjoyed the park in the past. Lots of room for picnicking, there's boat launch also. There are also some swimming areas, but from what I saw the day we visited, they didn't look all that great. Looked like they also have a concession stand that is probably open in the summer time.…
