The Ranger's and Staff at Alta are fantastic, always helpful and courteous. The park is always clean and easy to get around. Bookings are always accurate and never inconvenienced. We almost stay every weekend throughout the summer and very much enjoy the movie in the...More

We had a great time on a terraced site to a warm-water lake. G-kids aged 2-9. Bring life jackets and floaters and lawn games helpful. On the second terrace we placed a shade cover and outdoor rug with a pool and toys on it for...More

Campsites were clean. The lake is pretty and if I were a fisher person, I would go there to fish as we saw fish leaping up to catch dragon flies. There is a "swim beach", not to be confused with the "beach" in terms of...More

We were looking for a nearby lake to go fishing from the bank, and Alta was recommended by several people. It proved to be fine.

Our family used to camp at the State Park a couple of times each summer with several families...we loved this small lake for fishing, the gwarm water and the water skiing. The last time we were here there was a forest fire that drove us...More

Breathtaking views, cozy campsites. Lake front ones are the best -- they fill fast so book early. A fantastic swimming hole for the kids with sandy beaches. No big toy but mine never got out of the lake so it wasn't an issue. They have...More

If you are tent camping I can see the draw, most sites are "private" and down by the lake. However, we have a motor home and the RV/trailer sites were like a parking lot set-up with zero "privacy" (individual space for kids, dogs, etc to...More

When we ride our motorcycle across the North Cascade Hwy 20 on our way to Pateros, we like to swing in to see the park and the lake and take a break. Even though we've never camped here, we still enjoy this place and can...More

Alta lake state park is definitely worth a visit. The campground is nice, we were in loop 1(sites 1-45) on the back outer edge of the loop and really enjoyed it. Our site was well spaced from others and it's a 5 min walk or...More

This area is both beautiful and sad.... beautiful because of the Methow and Columbia Rivers and the wonderful little towns of Methow, Carlton, Twisp and Winthrop. Sad because of the devastation left by last summer's fires. It is still well worth the trip!
