We had a great family reunion tour out of the Rosario resort. We had a 12 person family reunion tour with ages from 11 to 80. Jeff and Cory did a great job corralling our group and took us on a great 3 hour tour where we saw a few seals and star fish and thoroughly enjoyed a perfect July morning on Orcas. We’d highly recommend Shearwater Kayak Tours

Fantastic 3 hour kayak trip with Corey and a new guide. My wife and I were one of three couples on the tour (we used three tandem kayaks, which are very stable and have a rudder, which make them easy to maneuver). We spent the most time with Corey, probably because we were the slowest of the three boats, and he was a fount of great information about the islands and wild life. The paddling was moderate and the group stopped periodically to let people rest and give the guides a chance to talk about what we were seeing. Even if you have never kayaked before, don't hesitate to take this tour. Corey was very supportive and encouraging - he seems to be the kind of person who says 'you're doing great!' and really means it (even if you think you might not be doing that great). I highly recommend Shearwater!

PS I ran into Corey 2 days after the tour on a street in Eastsound and he recognized me even with a mask on and remembered my name. Very impressive.

A perfect 4th of July evening guided by Lee. We covered 5 miles and circumnavigated about 5 small islands as the sun slowly set while learning about local history, lore and wildlife. Lee was terrific and gave us a demonstration of the Eskimo roll technique back at the dock and we are all hooked and will be back for more!

Great kayak tour with Leeann. We were originally scheduled for a sunset kayak trip but it was cancelled due to strong winds. Shearwater was great about rebooking us and happily offered to refund the cost if we couldn’t find another day/time with availability that worked with our schedule. We ended up during a morning tour which was great as not many boats out yet and the water was relatively smooth. Leeann did a great job getting us all set up with instructions and safety overview. The views of the coast and islands from the water were beautiful. Highly recommend Shearwater Kayak Tours.

Had a great time on this sea kayaking tour with my ten year old daughter. Our guide was super friendly and knowledgeable and we could tell that he was very safety conscious. I would recommend this activity to anyone looking for a good time on the water ... with a great chance to see harbor seals and bald eagles.

Lee was wonderful! 2 of the 3 adults in our family had “some” experience in a kayak, but both young children and one adult had never been in a kayak. He was patient, attentive, informative and made us all feel comfortable. We had a lovely time and it is an experience my grandchildren will always remember! Thanks for the memories!

Everything was easy with Shearwater Kayak Tours. We easily found the dock in Deer Harbor and free parking was available. Our guide was efficient and expert and had all the gear we needed, including dry bags for our belongings. We are somewhat experienced kayakers, but still found the 3-hour tour enjoyable thanks to the guide's knowledge. We saw harbor seals, bald eagles, and lots of jelly fish. Highly recommended for kayakers of all levels.

Me and my wife did deer harbor kayak tour. We were novice kayakers. We are also in ourfifties. Our guides Cody and new guy from WWU were phenomenal. We had a very pleasant experience and would definitely go again. The guides were patient infirrmative and very skilled. We are first time San Juan island visitors and highly recommend this very up close view of the unique islands..

Cory, our guide, was great! The three of us (61 yo, 56 yo, and a 19 yo) had little to no experience kayaking. Despite that, we were able to comfortably keep up with the group while enjoying going around 5 to 6 of the Wasp islands. The scenery and wildlife (seals basking in the sun, bald eagle, cormorants, etc.) were incredible. Cory was patient, supportive, friendly, fun, and gave lots of (but not too much) information about the islands, plants, and wildlife. He did a great job a preparing us for different situations (nothing major, just a few boat wakes, which were fun when you're prepped) and everyone felt safe. We had so much fun we're planning on returning for a 2-hour nighttime tour to see the bio-luminescent plankton.

We signed up for the tour not having done an activity like this before. To be honest, we both had doubts about what 2 1/2 hours out on the water would involve. Joshua, our guide, gave us very clear directions at every step of the way, and once out on the water, made sure everyone in the group stayed close enough together (not an easy task). We ended up learning about the history of a lot of the little islands along the way (Gene Hackman's former private island) and seeing harbor seals and other animals of interest along the way. It was a very pleasant way to spend a nice afternoon!
