I have been going to Gene Juarez for over 30 years. The standard of excellence establish over this time has been dismantled and replaced with unreliability. I scheduled a hair appointment week in advance only to have it cancelled the day of the appointment. This can be accepted. I rescheduled with another stylist two days later. This appointment was also cancelled only 2 hours from the scheduled appointment time. I attempted to schedule at another location and there was no availability. I have no confidence if I scheduled an appointment it would actually occur.

Just know in phase 2 all you get is a cut or color. No styling because that can’t blow dry. Don’t worry there is no discount you still pay full price. I received a good cut and color-but left disappointed with wet hair. The whole fun of a fancy salon is you look great with fab hair when you leave. Unless you like looking like you were caught in a rainstorm wait till phase 3.

Somer did a wonderful job of giving me a very good perm. She is very good !! My hair is thinning so needed attention to open spots. I brought a picture of the kind of hair style I wanted, front back and sides ! Somer called over the hair cutting stylist, kamiak to look at the picture. When Somer was done with the perm, she turned me over to Kamiak for the hair cut. this was about 2 hours later. She didn't ask to refresh her recall of the style I wanted, she just started cutting. I was getting worried because she was cutting way shorter than I wanted, so I said..." hold it, you are cutting too much!" I tried to tell her what length I had wanted, where I wanted the most hair, etc. The damage was already done, so one side is longer, and the other is about 1/2 an inch long. The longest hair is at the front, bangs about 3" long, and uneven. This is the worst hair cut ever, plus she cut 90% of the perm off. I paid $328.00 for this, and I am livid. I asked her to use a curling iron on it to help give it some volume, Wow.... she burned me several times with that very hot curling iron. She acted discussed that she had to style the hair, that was now too short to get around her 1+ inch curling iron. I am very unhappy I went to Gene Juarez. I went there because of a special occasion I am attending in 5 days, and I'm not happy about the way I look. I went to Gene Juarez several years ago, 2003, and it was a much nicer place then. The chairs you sit in, and recline in for the hair wash, are for the design factor of the décor, not comfort !!

I went to the Alderwood location to get a foil, I brought a specific picture with me to show what I wanted, but was talked into a Balayage because that is what the colorist said the picture was. I told her my main point was to hide my grey streak with color and to walk out of the salon with an obvious change. When I got home my husband said, “what happened I thought you were getting your hair done?”, next day at work, and I work with a lot of women who are more able to notice hair did not see the change, in fact most of them said, “you paid $151.00 for nothing, you need to go back and complain!” I am VERY disappointed!! That’s a lot of money, and time wasted. You see very little color and my grey streak still stands out😡The picture I bought in has a lot of burgundy, mine....truly can’t see any😢

I have been going to Gene Juarez salon since October 2017. I always am treated very well with a nice robe, coffee, tea or wine and my colorist, Cristina, is excellent. She is intelligent and quick witted and I have great conversations with her that the time goes by quickly. She does an excellent job with my foil and color.

Scheduled a haircut at the Alderwood location. While the stylist gave me a nice trim I felt like I had to repeat myself several times answering her questions. In other words, it felt like she was "somewhere else" and not paying attention. Her station was covered with her last clients hair, she dropped 3 combs, and seemed distracted. I'm happy with the cut, but the visit wasn't the usual Gene Juarez experience. We all have off days.

Got a curly hair perm done at Gene Juarez for almost $300. At the consultation I requested a strand test and stylist said there was no need, my hair would be perfect. It went straight in 2 weeks by no fault of my own- as I followed all instructions. Came in got my hair inspected and was forwarded to COLLEEN SALMON clients relation manager for a refund.

She is the most arrogant, condescending, nasty, rude person I've ever delt with. She unproffecionally raised her voice at me. Threatened to hang up (i wasn't swearing). Made me start crying in the middle of the conversation. Acted as if 300$ was not a big deal and I'm overreacting by requesting a refund. She said it's my hairs fault for not taking in the perm, not the stylists therefore I will not receive any refund.(Almost 100% sure stylist did something wrong like take chemicals out early or leave neutralizer in too long)

DO NOT GO TO GENE JUAREZ. They will not refund your service if your hair gets messed up. Their managers treat you like a piece of crap. Did nothing to resolve the issue. Unacceptable treatment to client.

I had signed up for a spa membership with a contract for 6 months. I've noticed a rapid decline in customer service (unfriendly schedulers) the cleanliness of the spa facility and it's hit and miss on the spa and hair service - not all practitioners are qualified to be working in a supposedly high end salon/spa. I had my final visit on my membership contract this week and was shocked by how dirty it was. The bathroom toilet had fecal matter still in the bowl, and no toilet paper! The changing area laundry bin was overflowing with used/dirty robes and the treatment room table had a stained cover. The facialist who did my facial this time (my regular facialist was not available) was nice but not qualified - the facial was on par with a bad beauty school facial. I've had a bad hair cut at the Lynnwood salon as well. I'm done with Gene Juarez!

I have been going to Gene Juarz for many years. It does get very busy so make reservations early. Facials are wonderful as well as the pedicures.
Hair services can get expensive, but usually worth the cost.
