A post holiday return took me to Alderwood Mall. The mall has been changing over the last few years with the closure of Sears and some other stores. Overall the mall appears to be thriving- there are very few empty store fronts and the mix...More
A well designed stylish mall featuring both enclosed and open area stores. It has anchor department stores like JC Penney, Macy's and Nordstrom as well as independent shops. I particularly like the two Seattle official team stores, for the Seahawks and Mariners without having to...More
It's always good to have a mall for visitors as well as locals to shop in. I liked this mall because they opened up before the main stores did and I could walk for some exercise. And they open as early as 7:30 AM.
How to get from Pier 91 to Lynnwood, WA (3 Replies)
I need some advice. My mom and I arrive on May 16th to the Smith Cove Cruise Terminal (Pier 91) after an Alaskan cruise. What would be the easiest way to get from the cruise terminal to Lynnwood, Washington? Car service, bus, taxi? Right now we're trying to decide whether to stay in Seattle or Lynnwood overnight. We're being picked up by our chauffeur (my dad!) and he'll be coming from Vancouver, Canada so Lynnwood would be an easier pick up spot for him and we like the Alderwood Mall! If...More

Well, taxi or car service would be easiest, but it'll cost a lot. Lynnwood is in Snohomish County, not King County like Seattle, so they use Community Transit buses. There are a few buses that go from Lynnwood>Downtown Seattle but only coming in to the city at morning rush hour then out in the evening. And you still have to get from the ship to where the bus would pick you up. I suppose you could try Lyft or another ride share service and see what they charge, but I think it would be FAR...More
Alderwood Mall in Lynwood, then to Boeing?? (3 Replies)
We are travelling from Vancouver, our destination is Bellevue. We are stopping along the way at Alderwood Mall in Lynwood for shopping for my teens (11, 13, 15). Is Boeing close to Lynwood by car?? Would the kids be interested in that, or are they too young? Do they have tours during the weekdays?

Boeing is in Everett just a few miles north of Lynwood. The kids would be fine with the tour. You take the Mukilteo exit. Look on the website for Boeing to get the right info. From Lynwood take 405 to Bellevue. You will have a carpool lane the whole way and you avoid having to drive into Seattle

Will be in Seattle to visit family and staying near Alderwood Mall. Need to rent a car and have seen advice to do so outside of Sea-Tac. However, I'm not sure if the vast range of prices (through Expedia $23/day to $60+ for a compact) is related to quality of service from the various companies. I have no idea how to evaluate this but don't want deceptive pricing, nonavailability of cheaper vehicles though reserved, or other tricks. Also, I am a youthful 65 :) and saw that there is a provision...More

If you stick with major name companies, you'll have no problem with service and business practices. The off-brand agencies are another question entirely. Prices can be all over the map for equivalent vehicles. It has more to do with yield management than quality. In the spring, the companies are gearing up for the busy summer season and there is a buildup of inventory. Companies frequently offer excess inventory for very reasonable prices through the online secondary brokers. I live in...More
