Thinking this was just another place to taste some wine, we were very pleasantly surprised. We arrived in the late afternoon and the tasting was a blind taste of six pinot noirs. We were asked to rate the color, aroma, taste, etc. and to try and guess where the wine originated. Great fun and something different. The proprieter was most gracious and friendly, the atmsphere comfortable and cozy. In addition to a bar, there is a back room with a couple of couches and a few tables. We were invited to stay and enjoy live music later in the evening, so we went elswhere for dinner and returned and had a wonderful evening listening to live blues in the intimate environment. We ended up spending time at the bar chatting with locals and the proprieter on our way out. We look forward to returning sometime soon.

We decided to try this place after reading a review on Tripadvisor, and also getting a bit of a frosty reception at another wine bar in town. WS is very low key, not fancy, and the storefront needs some work to attract customers. But the owners were friendly and helpful. We were the first to arrive and sat in the back room overlooking the channel, where we enjoyed a nice sunset after a blustery and rainy day. The waiter was a nice young fellow, maybe not as polished as he could have been, but it seems to be a family run place. We had a flight of wines to try, and stuffed mushrooms and a cheese plate. All delicious. We chose a wine to purchase on our way out. The big treat was the entertainment - a fabulous blues singer called Mia Vermillion. we loved her voice and stayed longer than we planned to listen to her.

We did the $5 wine tasting (her choice), 2 whites and 2 reds, ample pours for me. A bit less so for my friend. Great conversation, friendly service. We bought a bottle of red for our trip. Highly recommend!

A significant number of grocery-store type wines being offered which is just plain inexcusable given the extraordinary amount of affordable and great wine being brought into the state as well as being made here. Staff (at least the person who waited on us) was poorly trained and uninformed. The wine selection revealed a lack of knowledge of the industry as a whole. Really quite a sad place for the serious wine drinker to go to.

Stumbled in on a drizzly Sunday afternoon to a warm welcome from owner Anna. We really enjoyed the wine flights, unusual and generous pours of local and overseas reds and whites. Hearty snacks to accompany. Dog friendliness a big plus. Thank you Anna - do advertise the food plates on the main street, you deserve all the custom you can get.

Organize, Organize, Organize. We were hoping for a bit more structure for our $30/Sip and Paint class. We showed up about 5 minutes before the class was to begin. No Seats. The main "artist" seemed confused by the numbers in her class. We didn't have seats. Another gentleman didn't get his glass of wine until well into the class. Instruction was only given upon request. It seems like there is a lot of potential for this fun event it just needs to be put together a little bit better. Here are some ideas....the 'Artist' could speak to the whole group (instead of going table to table answering questions) regarding the outline of the evening, taking orders for wine, how to clean the glasses, apply the paint, add second layers of color, finish the glasses, washing instructions and lastly taking our payments. I hope that you are successful but I worry that you will get a poor reputation if you keep up the current approach.

I don't know why this as listed as a restaurant, it's a wine bar! It's not the establishment's fault that this is listed as a restaurant instead of "places to go/things to do." My friend and I went to La Conner for a girls weekend and went here 3 times in the two days. First let me say that the owner is so nice and personable. He is also generous. He welcomed us, poured us several free tastings, and was just so friendly. This is not a snooty wine bar, like Hellam's down the road, this is where you go if you want to sit down, enjoy some wine and conversation, and just relax. I give Washington Sips a five because the owners treated us like we were friends. On Saturday evening we returned and enjoyed the live music and then on Sunday stopped in and had one more glass with the owner before we left town. If you are looking for food, go to Seeds, if your looking to get comfortable and enjoy some wine, come to Washington Sips.

We were in the mood for a light dinner. We had two “small plates” that were actually rather large- the cheese plate and the corn dip. They had done unusual wines- my wife had a Mexican rose and I had a cab franc from the Yakima valley- both were very good. The server was both friendly and attentive. We ate on the deck overlooking the water. It was an inexpensive and satisfying dinner.

What a lovely spot to sit and sip a glass of very credible merlot and watch the boats coming and going through the channel. The menu offers wine flights and small bite plates. Perfect glass of wine paired with a lovely meat and cheese plate along with triple creme brie and pepper jelly.

Went to a Christmas party last night and there were supposed to be 25 of us according to the person who organized the party. We ended being 18 but there was a few other parties so chairs were at a premium. It was a pretty tight squeeze and once you were sitting down there was very little room to get up and move around which made it inconvenient because the appetizers and wine was walk up and and serve. There a few people who asked the lady to serve the wine because they were boxed in and she kind of just ignored them or once I heard her say I can't because I'm the only one serving and can't leave the table. Which was about 5 steps from the people who were asking, this was disappointing since people were only trying to sample the wine and couldn't get up for themselves.

Berries1, Thanks for coming to Sips. This night that you attended was the first, and last time, we have served a group as 'walk up for service'. It did not work very well. Additionally the server you are referring to was not a Sips employee. She was a wine distributor that was there that evening doing pouring only. We definitely learned from this evening. To potentially make matters worse, I heard from a few folks in your party that at least they had the understanding that your group had the whole room reserved for just your group. Oh my. We certainly did not make the arrangement with that understanding. This particular evening is and has always been a publicly advertised 'reservations required' event on our calendar. If this was possibly also what you were thinking we sure started off on the wrong foot. Please come back and introduce yourself again and hopefully we can share a laugh and better time. Best to you.
