I do not know what kind of idiot official thinks that a small [blink and miss it] town and its Lion's club can afford the government inspection costs [$135,000, I was told]. If the government wants to inspect, then do so but not at the expense of the town's only tourist attraction, it only main source of funding for it... More

This is the second year in a row we have brought folks here to take this train ride. In our enclosed car John, his wife and their young sidekick again did an outstanding job. The towns of Ione and Metaline Falls really pull together for this one. Food is good and cheap and the bake sale stand is to die... More

Totally unbelievable what a small Lions Club (a mere 37 members) in a rural, isolated part of the state does. Unfortunately after 35 years of excursiions this is the end of the line, so to speak. No more train rides. A unique experience and we definitely enjoyed it. The only objection was the inability to clearly hear the person on... More

I had been on this train when I was really young and had heard that this is the last year the train will be operating so I decided to take my boyfriend on a short day adventure. There is lots of family fun and youngsters really enjoy the trip. It took about an hour and 40 minutes to complete the... More

We had a wonderful family day, traveling to Ione and spending a couple hours on the train. The fall colors were beautiful and our host was great. We look forward to doing it again next year!

We had a wonderful time at the Ione, WA, Lion's Club train ride. Ione is a very small rural town in northwest WA. The Train ride is about 1 1/2 hour ride, round trip. The cost is very minimal at about $15.00 per ticket (round trip). The train engines are 50's vintage diesel powered. The ride itself is very scenic.... More

Be sure to book this early! We really loved seeing the countryside and Fall colors from the train. It's about 1.5 hours for the round trip. People were very nice and we had a great view even from an enclosed car. The train stops in the middle of the trestle and you have a spectacular view of the river. Take... More

For a town of only 500 people, they really pull together and give a great train ride with a tressle with a dam underneath, nice length tunnel with great old refurbished cars. We thoroughly enjoyed the train ride. Beats others in larger cities that we have done.

What fun. Riding an old time train with open or closed cars. Seeing miles of the Pend Oreille river by train. Having the bad guys board the train and scare you. Not expensive and enjoyable in the fall, autumn colors.
