My husband and I took a 2-day introduction to whitewater kayaking course. We had an excellent experience and improved our skills and confidence immensely. The course covered everything a beginner kayaker needs to know to safely make their way down Class 1-2 whitewater. We spent the first day covering gear, paddling techniques, self and partner recovery underwater, and learning about how to enter and paddle in a current. The second day we paddled a 10-mi stretch of the Skykomish, which was thrilling! Throughout our time, the instructors (Blair and Ayla) were supportive and encouraging. They offered helpful and personalized feedback that could immediately be used to improve our skills. They also made the class feel fun! A few days out, I am still on an endorphin rush from my first whitewater experience, and have fallen in love with the sport. I enthusiastically recommend this company and class for anyone who is interested in learning how to whitewater kayak in a fun, exciting, and safe way. I plan to take more classes with them.

We had a fabulous time with our river rafting trip with Outdoor Adventures! They went above and beyond accommodating our extended family. We had a very safe, fun trip. Several squirt guns provided lots of competition and laughter. The scenery is outstanding, the staff amazing! Some fun stops were made where the kids found clay to play with. Another stop was at a large rock we could jump off into the river. We will do it again sometime!

The rafting trip was fun and the water and scenery beautiful. The guides were all fun and friendly. Outdoor Adventures Center itself was very accommodating in helping us find a time that worked for everyone, and went above and beyond in making us feel welcome. Very nice experience.

This was the perfect introduction to whitewater rafting! Blair and Josh and Thomas taught us the basics, precisely and clearly, with practice before we took off down the river. This was all new to me, and I'm not strong and definitely not well coordinated, but our guides were super gentle when I made mistakes. At one point, I climbed a large boulder to jump in the river (voluntary activity). Climbing was a challenging new experience, but, again, Blair coached me through it instead of telling me I couldn't or giving me too much help. The river afforded us plenty of postcard views, both calm waters and rapids, thrilling but never scary. Because the guides were good at their job, I felt safe and was able to enjoy the adventure.
I'm definitely going again next year.
Wear croakies and lots of sunscreen. Take a water bottle.
Leave everything else behind.
And, shout out to Will!

Our family of four considered our experience the best of the best. We whitewater rafted through the most gorgeous protected area you can find. The Outdoor Adventures group were expert, kind and took great care for safety. If your family is looking for a uniquely memorable adventure, find Index in Washington State and ask for Blair and Family. And, they even have a beautiful hotel for you.

I have had kayaked with OAC before, which was a nice experience (separate review for that), but here I am to even out the rating by mentioning that I have been trying to reach them for several days now, leaving several messages for them to call me back, not able to use their website for the inquiry that I'd like to ask them about, have written on their FB wall to ask further.... and still deadly quiet!

How are they able to do business if can't bother to answer a couple of questions? There are a lot of competition, I think I'm now just done with OAC :(

You have to go whitewater rafting when you're in Seattle. We used Wave Trek and they were great. It's only an hour from Seattle. Our guide was very entertaining and he had us do all kinds of tricks on the raft. He gave us our money's worth. They also have the best lunch (steak bbq'd to perfection--they did a better job than some steak restaurants). They provide you with everything, including wet suit, booties, and life jackets. You just need to bring your swimsuit and a towel.

Three of us scheduled this three-hour kayaking trip offered with a Groupon discount. We had a fabulous time! Two of us were relative beginners, while our third was a fairly experienced outdoor sportsman.

Our guide "Dorito Dan" (alliterative food preferences helped us to remember the names of everyone in our party!) was an experienced and informative guide, giving us adequate instruction plus encouragement for the newbies. He even stopped 30 minutes in to check the group for growing blisters (I had two!), and he patched me up to prevent them from developing further. Also, when I had issues with shoulder strain, Dan offered tips to twist and engage my abdominals for a stronger stroke, which was easier on my shoulders and far more successful than my previous stylings.

Our tour was a dream. We had near-perfect weather, 70s and sunny, and Dan gave us all kinds of information about the islands and wildlife. We were fortunate enough to venture out when the harbor seals were raising new seal cubs, so we stopped our kayaks and silenced our speech. Within minutes, curious seal cub heads popped out of the water to take in the strange humans. An amazing and beautiful experience!

While we newbies have a bit of soreness, it was a wonderful day of family teamwork, nature spotting and taking in the natural beauty of the area. Highly recommend!

Blair and his crew are absolutely first rate. Our entire experience was fantastic from the booking process until we returned to our car after the trip.

We did a day trip to SKYKOMISH RIVER and it was perfect. The guides made great meals, were great with the kids (ages 9 and 14) and were more then competent in handling the raft etc.

We´re going to make this a yearly family routine.
