Excitement was in the air! We drove from out of state to arrive in Ellensburg, Washington for our much anticipated fishing trip. Hopes were high and it looked like the weather was going to cooperate. We had never fished in the state of Washington and were quite excited to fish the Yakima River with our guide from Ellensburg Angler. We were told they were exceptional so they had a lot to live up to! Let me tell you ... we were NOT disappointed! They are GREAT!!! I rarely write a review but after spending several delightful hours on the Yakima River fishing, I just had to! We started out the morning with a perfect day to be on the water. Our guide, Keegan Carlson, was very professional and delightfully personable. Keegan was helpful in giving me effective pointers on technique, which I appreciated. He is skilled and very good at what he does! He knew the waters well and how to fish them. Keegan was a wealth of knowledge on local fishing techniques which he generously shared with us. He is also very conscientious of the environment. While rowing Keegan saw an old road sign at the bottom of a shallow part of the river. He immediately stopped, jumped out and quickly retrieved it to dispose of later. Didn’t take but 2 or 3 minutes. He said all the guides at Ellensburg Angler are very protective of the waters they fish in. I was amazed and grateful! We had a fabulous fishing trip that day! Hands down, without a doubt, Keegan truly is the best guide we have ever had the pleasure of fishing with. I highly recommend Ellensburg Angler and our guide Keegan Carlson for a memorable and enjoyable fishing experience. Keegan, you are the BEST! Susan and Craig

Super guide service for fly fishing on the Yakima River. the guide was educational, ver helpful with instruction. put us on fish all day, provided expert advice of areas to fish. Best guide service in the area, i've used three other services that didn't measure up.

Booked two boats for a morning fly fishing trip on the Yakima river. Can’t say enough good things about this service. Booking was easy. Price was great and the two guides were outstanding. We had Todd and Stephan. Both very experienced and patient. We had plenty of action. The river and canyon was beautiful. Would not hesitate to use them again.

Share review Embed review Edit review 5.0 star rating 6/5/2018 My brother-in-law Dustin and I went on a half day beginner float this last Sunday with our guide Kyle. It was exactly what we were looking for. Fly fishing is one of those sports that can come across as inaccessible without an in, and this was exactly what we were looking for to get started. Kyle was super nice, laid back, and hospitable. We immediately felt comfortable with him and didn't feel stupid asking him all the questions that come with something as technical, at least superficially, as fly fishing. Ultimately it isn't as daunting as we thought, and both of us drove away nodding our heads that hey, "we can do this"! We embarked at around 2pm and didn't get out of the water until around 9pm, Kyle made sure to check in with us and make sure that this wasn't going to affect our plans for drive home. The more time on the water the better from our point of view, and between fishing, a nice bbq chicken lunch on an island on the river, and chatting with Kyle it flew by. It was quite a windy day but thankfully Kyle was able to find us some calm spots where we were able to catch some fish. Our first on fly rods. For all the fish we caught we probably lost double that amount amount in fly's (which mostly Kyle had tied himself) and he was super gracious in assuring us it wasn't a big deal, even when I almost lost half his fly rod. Ultimately what we wanted was a good time, and to feel like this might be something we could do on our own in the future. Kyle and Ellensburg Angler delivered, and I would definitely recommend them for anyone with similar aspirations. Thanks again!

We were expecting to fish the Yakima river canyon stretch.... south of Ellensburg. But we did not anticipate that on a summer saturday afternoon, with temps in the mid 90's, there would be 500 inner tubers floating the river. splashing, yelling, swimming, having a great time. Not good for fishing. Fish on a thursday or friday. not on a weekend. so our guide took us upstream and we floated for 4 hours. several 6 inch trout hitting our droppers. one trout that was maybe 14 inches was on for about 5 seconds. that was it. great scenery, very qualified guide, he helped us improve our techniques. but fishing? it wasn't fishing. it was a raft trip down a river. not worth the cost and time.
