We came back this year with friends after mooring in Fossil Bay last year. This year we moored in Echo Bay and our friends camped on the island close to our place in the bay. There are great hiking trails on this island and we...More
We enlisted Outer Island Excursions (see separate review on them) for a kayak tour around the island. This island is a short power boat trip across from the marina at the north end of Orcas Island. Take a power boat over there - save yourself...More
of favorite islands. Beautiful place - good hiking, water was cold but swim-able (sort of).
Moorings available - no services except "out houses". The Water Taxi (Deer Harbor Charters) was great - knowledgeable, friendly, informative Captain. A little pricey but worth it.
We had a great late-season off-the-grid weekend here in mid September. We had Outer Island Adventures drop us off from Orcas at 4:30 on Saturday with two kayaks and our camping gear, then they returned to pick us up at 4:30 on Monday. There were...More
Ferried to the island at 9:00 a.m. Did a leisurely hike around the whole island. Beautiful views with easy hiking. Pickup return time to Orcas was 4:30. Loved every minute spent on Sucia. If you go, remember to bring food and water as there is...More

We began our visit hunting for fossils, then hiked up and down the island, finishing with a dip in the ocean. Beautiful well-maintained park with some of the friendliest, smiley-est rangers we've encountered. Clean facilities and drinkable water.
We have been going to Sucia for 35 years. We continue to marvel at the beauty of this magic island. The State of Washington runs a family friendly and lovely boating paradise with two docks, multiple mooring bouys and many camping areas and picnic areas....More
This was a boat access island and is worth the effort to visit. Park camp sights picnic sights and water available. They even had compost toilets. We ended up visiting twice during our week long stay on Orcus Island.
Yes! Even when busy there tend to be lots of available campsites. They aren't all necessarily clustered in one place and if you pack light enough that you can hike a bit you'll definitely be good! There's lots of camping... More
Yes! Even when busy there tend to be lots of available campsites. They aren't all necessarily clustered in one place and if you pack light enough that you can hike a bit you'll definitely be good! There's lots of camping at Fossil Bay too (in all directions around bay) and this is much closer to the dock where you will likely be dropped off.
