Awesome view from the summit, and the tables at the base are good for a picnic lunch on a warm day

Beautiful 360 degree view of the Palouse from the summit on a clear day. We arrived on a hot August Tuesday at 11am, and the summit was deserted. During our 30 minute stay four more cars arrived. We had a WA State Parks Pass so...More

Beautiful rolling hills area with a farmhouse here and there. Fairly isolated, but worth a look. We went most of the way up and had great views from the Butte itself. There are outhouses in the park.

Plan to be here well before sunrise or sunset in order to have a good parking and viewing spot. The iconic views are to be had with a long telephoto lens, but just standing there and taking in the view of the rolling hills is...More

My adult son brought here on our visit to the Palouse. Wow. The views at the top are phenomenal. There were benches to sit on, plenty of parking, and portapotties. There were tons of butterflies that day. The ride up freaked me out a bit....More

Surrounded by rolling hills of farmland, Steptoe Butte is geologic anomaly and an island of a completely different habitat. Want a thrill? Drive up to the top. The view is amazing, the drive is a dizzying spiral. There are pit toilets at the base and...More

We heard of this park from a friend. It was SO WORTH the drive out there. We live in a farming community in Nebraska so we thoroughly enjoyed seeing this completely diverse and unusual farming area. Drive clear to the top, you will not regret...More

We went on a tour of Eastern Washington and seeing the rolling hills of Palouse was on the list. It is a lot of driving, and once you reach Steptoe Butte you have to go up on a narrow winding road to the top, but...More

You can see the Palouse Valley from anywhere in it, but there are only a few places where you can get above it and see it for miles around. Steptoe Butte State Park is the best. From there one can see the Wind Turbines, fields...More
