Great day out on the lake.
Took the slow boat to Stehekin and back on a sunny summers day and had a lovely relaxing trip up the lake and back. Booking online was a piece of cake and when we arrived at the dock the staff and crew were very friendly and helpful. The boat was large, clean and very comfortable if a little noisy on the rear 'sun deck' right above the engines - but we stayed there for the whole trip as it was a sun trap with a nice cool breeze. The scenery has to be seen to be believed as photo's just can't do it justice, like cruising up a Nowegian fjord but warmer and more varied. The boat is a ferry and as such made several stops along the way to drop off people and supplies to houses and small communities with water only access, and also to pick up hikers at seemingly random places along the lakeside - this just added to the experience and made it more interesting. Whatever you do don't miss the short bus trip to Rainbow Falls at the far end during the 90 minute lay over, the falls are beautiful, and we have to throw in a special mention for Dave the driver who's funny and fact filled commentry was worth the price on it's own - thanks Dave! At 9.5 hours for the round trip it's a long day ... but it's very relaxing and WELL worth every minute spent there. A shorter trip is available on the Lady Express (around 7 hours) If you're in the area and have the time don't miss out on this one.

Amazing crew affords an intimate view of off-the-grid cabins
Other than the scenery, the best thing about this voyage are the crew, who work so hard off loading massive quantities of luggage and gear for those with longer stays. As a backpacker, of course I am not one of those. Having taken this journey many times over the years, this last trip including seeing the crew maneuver this large boat into a shallow bay and use the foredeck gangway to offload gear and assist two women, a toddler, and a dog into an off the grid tiny cabin on the lake. I also saw them offload huge plastic containers of food that must weigh 50 lbs! All I can say is I hope they are getting big tips! Bravo.

    A Day Trip to Remember
To get to Stehekin, we were on the speedy Lady Liberty. My husband and I enjoyed watching the scenery change from hilly high desert to mountain forests. As we cruised along the lake, we saw waterfalls, small communities only accessible by boat, and high mountain peaks. Because we chose a Combo package that included a tour of Stehekin, we were greeted at the dock and pointed in the direction of an old Blue Bell school bus. Our tour guide was knowledgeable, having lived in Stehekin for a long time. Our tour included the Stehekin Pastry Company (two stops), the old Stehekin School, Rainbow Falls, Buckner Homestead, and the National Park Visitor Center. The Stehekin Pastry Company and Rainbow Falls were our favorite stops. The bakery had scrumptious Danish and cinnamon rolls, kuchen, cookies, cupcakes, and more. They also had quiches and croissants for breakfast. At lunch, they offered pizza, Chicken Curry Thai Soup, sandwiches, spring rolls, etc. Rainbow Falls was gorgeous. We were able to walk to the bottom of the falls for a full view. If you wanted to, you could hike either up the stairs or on a sloped path for a closer view of the upper part of the falls. We love waterfalls so we went to both viewpoints. Other options for things to do at Stehekin besides the tour we took included horseback riding, camping, hiking, fishing, or staying at a lodge or a rental. There is even a Lutheran Retreat Center out in the woods. We are very happy we spent the day exploring Stehekin. Good memories were made!

Fabulous trip uplake to the remote village of Stehekin
Great experience on the Lady Express to Stehekin! We learned so much about the lake and the Chelan area, took in the gorgeous mountain views on a sunny day. Fabulous lunch at North Cascades Lodge restaurant. Sat in the sun on the deck savoring the views. We will be back! Wish I had dressed warmly, as it was much cooler on the ferry andvin Stehekin than in Chelan.

    Great Adventure for all ages!
We took The Liberty to Stehekin for the day and we had a wonderful time. The crew was great and the boat took less than the 1 1/2 hours that we had planned on, to get there. Our time at Stehekin was probably just right for our younger ones, but another hour or two for the adults would have been better! I would highly recommend seeing Stehekin if you are in Chelan and The Liberty is the quick way to get there!!!

    Great!
Really great trip up and down the lake - helped by a sparkling weather day. Very efficient. Crew friendly and accommodating. Special thanks to fire fighters joining on the up-leg as they were heading off to fight the forest fires. 💪💚

The views were great, but there were too many people on the boat who were not wearing masks. Didn’t feel safe. Also we only had a 1.5 hr layover but they made more stops than usual so we only had an hour at Stehekin, which only gave us enough time to eat lunch at this over priced restaurant. I felt so ripped off. Would not recommend the trip as a day trip.

We had a great trip out to Stehekin. Beautiful day, with lots of fun facts about the area thrown in. Plan your trip. We should have taken a lunch with us. There is a restaurant at the destination, but they were very busy and we felt like it was a bit pricey.

I was disappointed to discover on our trip to and from Stehekin on the Lady of the Lake last week that the staff and guests are not wearing face masks in compliance with the Washington State Governor's Order on July 7, 2020. As paying customers we expected that the company would enforce this Order. In addition, the company has a COVID-19 policy on its website which represents that they require masks of their staff and guests, however, the policy is not being enforced. Two-thirds of guests and several staff members were not wearing masks, even in the enclosed cabins. Non-compliance creates risk for passengers, staff and the company and irresponsible and made for an unnecessarily stressful journey. When I asked the ship's captain to wear a mask, he refused. When I called the Lady of the Lake Office and was told I'd be connected to a manager, I was put on hold and then told that the manager had "just stepped out". I realize these are challenging times and was happy to support the company, but will not pay for a trip with them again.

It was quite a journey, as the boat trip is 2.5 hr. each way and the day I went, it passed by a wildfire, with choppers in action, dipping water from the lake , and dumping it on the active fire. Stehekin has a lodge and restaurant and a sitting area or you can take a bus tour to the bakery and the falls for $10. I brought a small lunch and ate it at a log bench near the boathouse, with a perfect view of the lake and it's turquoise water during the 1.5 hr stay. If you can commit to an entire day trip, this is well worth it!

The only way to really see the lake. We have visited before and driven roads around the lake but you cannot access the northern reaches any other way. We bought our tickets online and then had to change the dates. The process was very easy but we had to call to do that. We printed off the QR codes and that was our boarding pass. You could also use your phone. We had never been on the Lady II before but because of pandemic restrictions, it seemed uncrowded. The capacity on the upper deck was 50 people and there was a lot of empty space so it was not full. Seating was on well padded folding chairs which allowed great flexibility in how you wanted to sit. This is more than an excursion boat and carried all sorts of freight and supplies for the town of Stehekin as well as backpackers and all their gear. Masks were required but the upper deck is open on 3 sides and many people did not choose to wear them. The crew asked people to wear masks in the enclosed lower deck. We were both vaccinated and did not feel uncomfortable. There is no way to effectively social distance on a boat like this. We made several stops along the way to drop off and pick up people. The boat left on time at 8:30AM and arrived at the far end of the lake about 11:30AM. We left for the return trip at 12:50PM. My only complaint was that the PA system was not loud enough to hear on the upper deck and we missed any safety instructions and all the narrative along the way.

In this time of Coronvirus precautions, this company is either clueless or simply does not care. I don't know how many passengers the ferry holds (at least 125), but it was was packed (most seats filled in theater style seating) and about half the guests did not wear masks. In open spaces, I didn't notice any separation between groups (probably because there was just no room). No announcement or encouragement from the staff to either maintain proper distance or wear masks. I didn't notice any special cleaning taking place, either. The ferry itself was fine and the check-in procedure was efficient, so I gave two stars instead of one. We took this ferry only one way (return from Stehiekin) and my suggestion is to take the Stehekin Ferry both ways - it's a lot smaller but there was plenty of room for proper distancing.

Awesome experience! Took the Express up to Stehekin to hike down the Lakeshore Trail and get picked-up the following day at Prince Creek Landing. Everyone I dealt with from ticket sales to loading/unloading was great. Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and a pleasure to talk to. The ferry ride was also educational/informative with the captain pointing out landmarks and sharing history/information about the lake over the PA system. Highly recommended.

Staff does not enforce mask requirements and tours are arranged and permitted such that day passengers are placed in a situation where they are going hungry or all eating unmasked in a small, minimally ventilated space. Very unsafe.

We went in on a weekday and the lower cabin was sparsely populated. Out of the 12 or so people in the cabin, approximately 4 were completely without masks. Staff never asked them to put on masks although they were engaged in conversation with them.

On the Sunday return, the lower cabin was about 2/3 capacity. Most were day trippers who had picked up meals on the way back from a tour and were all eating in this space at the same time. I would say it was at least 20 people. Many of them never put on masks after. We felt compelled to move outside and remain there for the rest of the trip, even though it was quite cold.

I cannot in conscience recommend anyone to take the Lady at this time.

The Lady Express was a great day trip to see the beautiful scenery along Lake Chelan. Everything went well, we had great weather and the crew was friendly and informative about the area. The crew followed appropriate COVID protocols, and most people were courteous about wearing masks and social distancing. Unfortunately one family did not wear masks, including the grandparents, the two sets of parents and their kids, who were older than two, and didn't hesitate to come close to us. It would have been better to have refused to allow them to board. Except for that, we had a lovely time!

I took the round trip to Stehekin on September 27, 2020, and was swept away by the serene beauty and quiet. What a deep and clear lake! I went on a faster boat on the way out, and came back on a slower boat...but here was some great hospitality! Skipper Dave was so kind, and the other gentleman with the gorgeous red hair ( I do not remember his name) included me in a wonderful surprise. I'm not going to say what it was, but maybe you will be lucky enough to experience the view I did. That's all I'm saying! Thank you Skipper!

Stehekin was magical. I had contacted the owners of an adventure co., who live there, and met them for lunch at the bakery. Got to meet their daughter, wonderful family. Really enriches an adventure when you have time to spend with locals. There was a young guy who helped the skipper on the 1st boat to Stehekin, and drove a bus and took us on a tour of this little village. Can't remember his name, but he delighted us all with history and his kindness. What a local! And what a magical and lovely village. Hearty locals!

My tour was all day, and I'm glad I did it. Departed at 0830 and returned at 1800. Well worth it!

Thank you everyone!
