Great place to take the family. The concerts in the summer are great! Take binoculars to check out the elk.

We stopped here on our way back to Seattle. The displays and movie are very informative about Mt Saint Helens and the grounds are very pretty, just wish we could have actually seen the volcano from that area. It is quite a distance from other viewing areas.

It takes about 1 hour from Castle Rock. If you go there, I think you go from 8 to 10 o'clock. It is sunny condition on that time and route is clear.

We very much enjoyed stopping by the "Visitor Center at Silver Lake." Not only did it afford us a beautiful view, but also great displays and information in the visitor center.

This visitor center for Mount St Helens was well worth the stop. This beautiful center offers exhibits on the 1980 eruption and a very good film. Enjoyed it very much. Plenty of parking, restrooms, and a gift shop.

There is a small fee to go into the visitor center, I think five dollars but it is well worth it as they have an excellent video and other displays describing the 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens. Despite the fact that it was cloudy and foggy and we had no chance to see the mountain itself, we decided to... More

My parents brought me here as they live about 35 miles away. A spectacular drive there, although not a lot of signs so be sure you know exactly where you're going (Johnston Ridge). It has a spectacular theatre and at the conclusion of the movie the curtains go up and you're looking directly at the mountain - will take your... More

The movie and exhibit was great, this is the state run place so no fear ! If you don't know about the eruption in the eighties, you will be shocked at the destruction that the volcano did!!!

We didn't want to drive the 30 or 40 miles to the visitor center closest to Mt St Helens, so settled for a stop here. It was done nicely and provided a lot of great information. Worth the stop.

Mount Saint Helens is one of my new favorite places. You will be in awe of what nature can do. This place looks like it belongs on another planet and is just incredible. I was extremely impressed by both the visitors center and the Rangers themselves, who were super informative and helpful. They have wonderful ranger talks (definitely recommend), and... More
