As a solo traveler, it's sometimes hard to get on a kayak tour. Moondance was excellent at following up and was able to book me with another solo traveler yesterday. But windy to stay but our guide, Dom, set us up really well. Some nice challenging paddling to start. She picked and adjusted our route as conditions changed, and when the wind died down we headed up into a small island beach to check out the tide pools. Great impromptu marine biology lesson. In all a fabulous experience and a great time. Thank you!

My teen grandson and I (76) enjoyed the 2-hour paddle from Larrabee State Part to Chuckanut Bay and back. He commented that paddling was more work than he expected, and ended up using his entire upper body, which rocked the boat a bit but wasn't a problem. It was my 2nd time kayaking, first in the stern position with control of the rudder. It was challenging to paddle and steer at the same time but I enjoyed it. The best part, besides perfect weather, was seeing wildlife up close: purple sea stars, sea anemone, bald eagles, and lots of harbor seals in the water and on land. I even tasted some of the Sargassum seaweed! Our guide, Sophia, was excellent, though I would have enjoyed more of her narration had we stayed closer to her kayak. Be sure to use sunscreen!

It was a perfect way to be on the water on a perfect summer day. It was very busy at the boat launch, but our guide was quick in getting stuff setup. The guide also practiced safe social distancing while teaching my group (family of four) plus two other groups of two how to kayak.

As a novice kayaker I was not familiar with all the equipment. However, the company gave clear instructions on what to expect, provided all the safety gear and a light snack. The guide patiently instructed us on how to gear up and get aboard every step and paddle stoke along the way.

I was in the rear seat of a tandem kayak, so I had to learn how to steer with a rudder and paddle. It was a little awkward getting the hang of it, but the guide instructed those of us in the steering position how relax and operate a kayak more smoothly. By the time we rounded the first point, we all were doing well.

As we explored the shoreline the guide noted various wildlife ashore and in the water, plus various trees and rock formations by highlighting interest tidbits of information on each thing we spotted.

The tour followed the shoreline as we visited several coves and shallows were we could see the sights up close. The tide was going out and the water was fairly calm, however, there were still some noticeable current and large swells, which the kayaks handled easily.

At the furthest point out, we stopped for a snack and break. We went at least 2, maybe 3 miles. Turning back was just as fun, and itan easy pace. I noticed the more I leaned back, relaxed and took shallow long paddle strokes the faster we went. By the time we returned to the launch point, it seemed like only and hour passed since first set off nearly three hours earlier.

Chatting with the other kayakers I learned it was the first trip for most everyone. All us agreed that we want to come back again for more adventures.

Enjoyed a lovely guided kayak trip. I loved working with this company! It makes me happy to support a woman-owned business. I actually won a half-day trip (and upgraded to full day) in a raffle that Moondance was supporting, to raise money for the women making a film about women of color in the outdoors. I love that they were supporting this cause. The cherry on top was the really enjoyable day out on the water. Our guide Amber was wonderful and knowledgeable. I highly recommend Moondance for kayak enthusiasts, experienced or beginners.

We joined a Moondance excursion as a couple with a little bit of sea kayaking experience and our own equipment. Natalie, our guide, had 4 other guests and she handled the diverse experience among our group with ease and confidence. She was gentle and patient with the new ones, while still having plenty to contribute to those of us with more experience. It was a joy! Her attention to safety, tides, weather, and the ecosystem around us made me feel like I was in great hands.

We only had time for a short paddle this time, but would certainly join this company for other, longer excursions.

We did the sunset tour and it was one of the most stunning views we've ever had. It was probably the most beautiful sunset we've ever seen!

The guide was amazing. The Kayaks were nice.

If you're driving up from Seattle for the sunset cruise, expect delays on I-5.

Had such a great time on our full-day tour with Moondance. The guide took time to explain things in greater detail to us, had much patience, and showed her true passion for the sport and the nature surrounding us. I recommend!

After dreaming all Spring about Kayak camping in the SanJuan islands. I finally e mailed Kristi at Moondance kayak tours to check into the possibility of a custom, catered overnight tour. A few short weeks later we were pushing off the gravel beach on Guemes island on our way to Cypress island with Sophia our guide, naturalists and executive chef, leading the way. Sophia really tuned into our desires and abilities and set the weekend rhythm of life accordingly. The amazing hikes and paddling excursions on and around the island, were punctuated with tales of the areas history, great food and wine all surrounded by the unparalleled beauty of the islands.

Thank you Sophia

We enjoyed the sunset kayak at wildcat cove. There weren’t originally any available slots but after calling Moondance they arranged to creat another tour to fit us in, our guide was incredibly knowledgeable about the islands, sea life and nature. Highly recommend and can’t wait to take a multi bday kayak trip with them.

I did a day trip out of Larabee State Park which was awesome. Saw lots of wildlife and beautiful scenery. The guide was very knowledgable and shared lots of tid bits about the biology and geology of the area.
