This park is a little gem in Bellingham that has everything. Fenced dog park with lots of room to run, separate areas for small and large dogs, water for the pups and shade for the humans. There's also a playground for small kids and running/walking trails around the lake, plus all of the water activities in the lake! This peaceful... More

After many years of not being able to do this, my year old pain free knees let me walk again. A few minor hill climbs on the forest side, but low difficulty otherwise. Loop not possible for wheel chairs but some of the lake side walk is paved. This is just one of many extraordinary parks in Whatcom county.

Another example of why Bellingham is rated so highly for livability. This lake prohibits power boats and noisy, polluting, watercraft as well as development. What you get in return is a pristine environment perfect for swimming, hiking, walking, rowing, floating, picnicking, and just relaxing on the grass.

The park was very crowded. It was frustrating finding parking. The beach access by where we finally found parking was not great. The water had lots of plant material in it. Not too appealing for swimming.

My wife and I walked around the lake on Wednesday this week, July 27. It is a 2.6 mile loop. We started at the basketball court and walked counterclockwise. At the start there were hundreds of people enjoying the sun by playing basketball, sunbathing on land, or in the water on all sorts of inflatables. This was in the sun.... More

This lake is a gem in all seasons. Fishermen, kayakers, paddle boarders, runners and walkers are welcome here. Try to go during the week as it is a bit quieter.
