Went to Bellingham, WA about 2 years ago. Beautiful little town. Not rushed, nice people. Saw the dock for the "Big" boats that go to Alaska. A must for the bucket list.

My husband and I took a 25 day vacation from Bellingham to Haines, Alaska. We used the Alaska Marine Highway ferry system as our transportation between cities. We had staterooms on the M/V Malaspina and the M/V Matanuska, and rode the M/V Fairweather between the...More

If you enjoy a "naturalistic" view of seeing things, then this is your ship. The staterooms are nice & comfy. You can even sleep under the stars with heat lamps. The food is comforting. The only down side is you don't come into Alaska ports...More

Many shipping lines offer cruises through the Alaskan Inside passage. But the regular Alaskan Marine Highway ferries take you past the same scenery at bargain rates. We had the comparative luxury of a stateroom on the Malaspina but many passengers slept in their seats and...More

We rode twice on the Matanuska, from Juneau to Petersburg and then a few days later from Petersburg to Ketchikan. It was wonderful! We loved the front lounge area because the views were incredible and yet we really couldn't see much because of the weather...More

Even though the ferry was running late due to weather conditions before we boarded, the captain managed to get us to our destination on time. We were able to find a quiet, low traffic place to put out our sleeping bags. We enjoyed the towels...More

Two of us took this ferry from Skagway to Juneau. We had a vehicle and purchased a cabin. Took a long time to load vehicles at our stop in Haines. The groups of four seats in the observation lounge are awkwardly placed for watching the...More
