Gentle hiking trails in a wooded setting above Bellingham. Partial views of the bay. Pleasant area. Climb the tower for the best views. Fall and winter offer better views when the foliage is off of the trees.

I love arboretums, and this one is beautiful. You can drive to the top if you just want to go to the fire watch tower, but there is also parking right at the beginning of the park for those that want to walk through the trails it has. This is located very centrally in Bellingham, and it is worthwhile if... More

There are several nice trails in "the Arb" as WWU students call it. I think that all newcomers should at least try to make it up to the watchtower. The Sehome Hill Arboretum is a very magical place, with a lot of secrets (the shrine, dojo, swings). Definitely do some exploring, especially if you're new to WWU or the area!

Enjoyed this trail up near Western Washington University. Peaceful place to reflect. Loved the look out tower and the tunnel blasted in the rock.

This is a hidden park that is very interesting with lots of statues to look at and paths to walk. It is a pleasant place to go.

Nice trails and forest in the middle of the city. Good place for some fresh air and nature when you don't want to be near the windy beach.

My WWU daughter took her old parents up this trail on a warm summer day in August. It was lush green with many switchbacks to make the hike bearable. The viewpoint was a nice place to enjoy the sweeping view of the bay. Well worth the aching knees!

Short hike up, depending on which way you go. Trails all over the little mountain/hill. All sorts of cool things to discover- it seems like I find something new each time!! And then when you get to the top, there is an old 4-story watchtower that you can climb up. Not the most amazing view (there are some trees in... More

A nice hike close to town. Very easy nature walks with good views. Cool historical area as there is a tunnel that cars were able to drive though in the twenties and thirties. Lots of parking at top of hill. Cool wooden structure to walk up. Views are mostly obscured by trees now but still a fun walking/hiking area.
