We frequently walk here with the dog. Good for a bike ride too as it is paved. Along the coast and against forest so shaded, cool and all around a nice walk. Shorter distance and connects to South Beach neighborhood. Access to the shore, boat launch and picnic tables along with some history.

Lovely place for a walk with the dog, bike ride, or beach combing with kids. Lots old growth trees on one side and water on the other. Parking is easy and there's lots of grassy areas to toss around a frisbee.

Fort Ward Park is just the place to grab a friend or your family and take a walk or a spin on your bikes. It's flat and the path is paved, so even those who are elderly or just plain lazy will enjoy the breezes and water views. Plenty of places to scramble down to the shore and see what... More

Fort Ward is a wonderful place to walk along the waterfront without traffic. There are also picnic spots. Great place to relax.

This is a quaint park, with great views of the sound. Lots of dog walkers, lots of picnic tables, and benches. You can walk out to the water. Nice place to stretch you legs away from the hustle of Winslow Street.

Yes it can be hard to find even if you've been there before. We made a wrong turn but then luckily saw the sign before giving up. We park above and walk the paved trail down. Nice workout especially going back up! The paved area below is great for walking or biking. It's easy to get on the beach and... More

Fort Ward offers lots of opportunities for families, athletes and daily exercises. Paved and unpaved trails with beautiful views of the water. Some areas for picnicking and definitely family and pet (leashed) friendly. Good place year round and close to nice coffee shops, restaurants and the great little movie theater.

Well, it's impossible to get here. I've been lost three times over the years trying to find this thing. As you leave the main drag in Poulsbo there is a sign but after that there is ZERO signage telling you which way to turn through probably 30 minutes of twisty turning island county roads. I managed to find it once... More

Here are the remnants of an important tiny military base, but for the life of me I cannot understand why given its location here on this small, scenic island how it had any strategic significance. There is some effort that has been underway for several years to preserve what is left and restore what is not. It's interesting, but it... More

I like this area because I can bring guest of any age or fitness level. The even path makes for easy walking along the shores edge.
