This was my first time at this State Park and I thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon here. What exceptional, knowledgeable, and helpful folks that I got to meet today inside the Visitor Center! I enjoyed the conversation with them about the local history and in-depth knowledge of the in-house residence’s living in the aquariums! I hiked the trails and placards are placed giving information about the parks history and the Lee family. Families were enjoying the picnicking grounds and the Potomac River. I also got to watch the sailing skills of quite a few sailboats navigating on the Potomac River. Also, I was able from a respectful distance observer Ospreys flying into it’s nest and bringing fish to it.

Beautiful Virginia State Park! $10 to park for out of state residents but worth it! Little river beach that plenty were swimming in including my son. Playground, walking trail, grills, and pavilions. Plenty of shady spots and parking!

This was my first visit to the park near the trailer parking for boats. The beach areas were closed to swimming, but you were still allowed to walk on the beach. I brought my two dogs with me and others did as well. A great area to have a picnic or just walk the trail that pararelles the waters edge. It was enjoyable even though you had to practice social distancing.

We visit this state park monthly or more and love it in every season. Our favorite place in the park is the beach access/boat launching area. Our kids age 3 and 5 are always excited to go exploring on the trails, visit the playground, have a picnic or search for seashells.

Nice place for a hike or walk. There is a fee for the park, so may want it to be a longer stop. Lots of picnic areas and a nice playground.

This is just so park goers know that you pay to go in
and the road inside the park is long and if you miss the sign that says 25 m.p.h. which I did. I was going a little over 35 m.p.h. which is the speed limit of the road right before you go in and pay to get in park. I have not been back.
I have never had a speeding ticket in my life before or after this incident. I go to a park to relax not to have a park ranger set up a speed camera and give me a speeding ticket.

Leesylvania is a little gem of a park. Almost within city limits proper, yet you feel you are deep in the hills. Lots of large, covered picnic facilities as well as open-air spots and tables. We have attended many a family, church and Scout events here, and there always seems to be open areas for "drop-ins" among the reserved areas.
Sits right on the Potomac. Nice "wharf" and boating area, including ramps. Sheltered pier area, but I don;t know about overnight facilities for boaters. Plenty of convenience stores and gas stations within 5 minutes' drive for last minute supplies and "OOPS! forgot the ice!"
Wildlife is a plenty...you will see deer rather often.
Fishing is allowed from the wharf.
Several good eatieries such as Tim's Rivershore Crabhouse and chain restaurants if you burn the burgers.
Swimming and jet-skis are allowed.
Entrance fee is reasonable.
OUTSTANDING spot for watching fireworks on 4th of July, or Tim's Rivershore Annual "Not On The 4th" fireworks...almost an hours' worth of spectacular show, given the weekend PRECEDING the 4th. The river is FILLED with spectator boats.
Rangers make regular rounds. Safe and Secure.
Nearby attractions include the Marine Corps Museum (free...open year-round except for Christmas Day) just 5 miles south on Route 1.
For train buffs, there is a large trestle bridge crossing Neabsco bay. The former Richmond, Fredricksburg and Potomac RR mainline, it is now CSX, AMTRAK and VIRGINIA RAILWAY EXPRESS traffic that comes by about every 5-10 minutes.

You'll pay 5.00 to get in which is fine with me because I really love the park. There is fishing, hiking, gentle walking paths, boat and jet ski launches and a pier. Nice green areas with tables and BBQ grills. The trees go right up to the waters edge. There is a general store, rangers if you need them. Camping, guided tours, wildlife recognition with the tour guides. The largest population of bald eagles in the mid Atlantic. It's a small park, which fill to capacity on holidays. Go off season or during the week. You will love it.
