About
Our ranch offers spectacular scenery, experienced guides, and a riding experience you'll want to repeat. It's like a slice of good ol' fashioned western hospitality. Ride through our herd of cattle or explore all that nature has to offer on our ranch, from foxes and bald eagles to wild turkeys and herds of deer. The Wagon Wheel Ranch is family owned and operated, which is why we have placed it into a Conservation Easement guaranteeing there will never be any houses built or other development taking place on the property. We ride 7 days a week, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

What a great time!! Cowboy Bill was excellent. Very good teacher and the rail was nice and long and very varied. We went thru streams, up and down hills and enjoyed his corny jokes!!🥴🥴😂

Our family has returned multiple times to ride at Wagon Wheel Ranch whenever we're in Virginia. Very friendly staff and attentive to not only the guests but the horses too...you're not riding mindless plugs. The tack is clean and fitted correctly to you and your horse. The grounds are beautiful and relaxing. In the fall be sure to combine it with apple-picking at one of the local orchards. Excellent family experience.

My family and I visited the wagon wheel ranch in October of 2017. None of us had ridden a horse before but it’s something that interested us, so we decided to book a trail ride. This ranch was beautiful, so picturesque! The horses were well trained and calm. The owner Sam was spunky, fun, patient , and especially good with small children. All of us had a great time here and would definitely come back.

We traveled with our 8-year-old granddaughter to the Wagon Wheel Ranch on a weekday for a 90-minute trail ride. We made our reservation about 3 weeks in advance so we could ride during my granddaughter's spring break. Making a reservation in advance is highly recommended due to the owner's busy schedule. The rolling hills on the ranch made the ride quite enjoyable. Another plus factor was riding side by side. There was just the four of us and we rode together, either all four abreast, or two and two, instead of single file. This made it easy for conversation. Our guide, Sam, shared lots of interesting stories and information about horses during our ride. After the ride we were treated to ice cold lemonade. I highly recommend this stable for a trail ride. You won't be disappointed.

We've been taking our daughter here for riding lessons for a while now. Sam runs a great operation. She has excellent people skills, she has clear expectations for the students - and the parents..;) She has excellent help for days when she's not there. We highly recommend her ranch. The setting is beautiful. We have yet to take a trail ride, but our daughter loves every minute of it.

Sam and Grace did an excellent job in taking our group through their beautiful ranch! My wife and I decided to celebrate our anniversary riding and we picked the perfect place. Sam made us feel at home while we waited. She answered all of our questions and paired us with horses that matched our personalities. The ride was fun and relaxing. The views were amazing. Jack and Nugget got us back to the barn despite us being first time riders!

Booked a horseback riding experience here and was so thrilled with the whole thing from start to finish! From the entrance and the drive up (beautiful countryside) to the entrance to the ranch (driving through cattle graving on either side of the driveway) the whole experience was incredible. Sam the owner was a real character and made the ride that much more enjoyable. The Ranch is well maintained, the horses are obviously well cared for and you can actually ride instead of walk in a line like most places. This is the place to go if you want to really experience a real working ranch with people who really do this for a living. Don't miss this place if you want to book a trail ride, the views, the water, the wildlife you see is just breathtaking! A must see!

We were invited to a birthday party for our daughter's friend. It was great fun for the kids. There were two horses which took the children for rides around the ring. They played games (stick horse race, potato sack race, duck duck goose) and enjoyed watching the horses graze in the pasture. There was a small space inside for food/cake set up, and also several picnic tables outside. A great alternative to the traditional birthday party locations.

This is a great place to go for a trail ride thorough the Virginia countryside. The horses are well kept and are conditioned to people riding them. Sam will take good care of everything to make you comfortable on a horse. I highly recommend you visit.

Albeit our 3rd horseback riding experience, I have to say this is the best ranch ever. Sam, the owner was very accommodating and friendly whenever I called. The ranch spreads out over 250 acres and the grounds are beautiful. Upon arrival, we were met by cattle grazing on the grounds. The long scenic road to where the horses are kept was a delight. The young lady who took us out was very friendly and shared a lot of knowledge and information regarding the grounds, owner and horses in general which was really nice. We did the 1.5 hour ride but look forward to coming back in the future and doing the loner one.
