Excellent introduction into honey and mead. We paid for the sit down introduction and tried around a dozen different honey varieties with detailed descriptions. We then moved on to try eight meads and developed an understanding of taste and ingredients. Military discount on tasting and purchases.

You have to make reservations ahead of time for the tasting, which you can do online. You start with honey tastings, which were really good and the young woman was informative and helpful. Then we tried the mead, again really good and enjoyed the presentation. The gift store has all the honey’s and mead, along with clothing, soaps, and other items. I had a coupon if I spent $20 I could get a glass, I used the coupon, my cousin had about $50 worth of merchandise and gentleman behind register would not let her use the coupon for the free glass. He stated it was one per customer. I got the coupon at my hotel where all the brochures are displayed. He was unfriendly and rude! Give me a break! Luckily our hotel was around the corner, I drove back and got the coupon! He could’ve accommodated us! Most tastings include a glass! We spent money for the tasting and combined purchases we had spent over $100. He was a real jerk. So, we left with a frustration and disappointment. Where is friendly customer service?

I booked a honey/mead tasting as a group event for my sister's recent bachelorette party and it was fantastic! the space is quaint and adorable, but still relaxing and inviting. Everyone we encountered was friendly and knowledgeable and we all learned a lot during the tasting. The honey tasting was amazing, and you are given a bunch of different ones to try, and the same goes for the meads! We hung out afterwards and sampled the mead flights, which were also delicious (the Matcha Green Tea was a big hit with our group). It was the perfect quick little "event" before we checked into our hotel, and was much more reasonably priced than any of the fancy wine tours I had been looking at. I brought home the Alfalfa Honey (it's already halfway gone) and the Soak Up the Sun mead. Having the bees at the front was very cool. I don't remember who did our tasting unfortunately, but he was funny, knowledgeable and put up with our requests and questions graciously. Thank you all again for a wonderful experience, I will definitely be back and have been shouting the praises of the Silver Hand Meadery since to friends and coworkers!

We booked a group of 3 Mead tasting—SO much fun to learn the history and how it is produced. We started off by sampling 10 different honeys they make, followed by several Meads they craft with the honey we previously tried. It was nice to have a guide answer questions and lead you through the tasting. Very fun experience for adults!

We got a free tasting at the Meadery from staying at Wedmore Place. The tastings were indoors - but they have two tasting rooms which are scheduled in alternating time slots and have socially distanced tables. The staff were friendly and accommodating and the tasting was something unique for us - it included both an array of honeys with clearly unique flavors and a variety of meads made from them - along with explanations. The place has a small shop so you can purchase products you enjoyed from the tasting. We brought home both stylish bottles of mead and honeys, which would make a unique gift.

Great tasting for $10 dollars, you get to taste many different honeys and meads. The staff is super friendly. We stopped in as an extra place to go on vacation and walked out with a ton of different meads and honey.

The honey tasting was fun and the mead tasting was even better. Make sure to go to the bar area and taste the experimental meads. We had a flight to taste all of the experimental. The only downside was it was very disorganized when we went in for our tasting. It was a free for all and there weren’t enough seats. That was resolved and the rest of our time there was lots of fun!

Great mead and great people! We didn’t know much about mead (but now we do). The tasting ($9 for 4 pours) was a great way to introduce ourselves to mead. ( Sarah was a great guide and made recommendations based on our taste profiles.). Guests can also do a guided tasting for $20 total for 2 and includes a honey tasting. (They also do solo honey tastings). This place is one of those rare finds. Recommended!

The wife and I were on an Anniversary weekend celebration trying new places around home. My wife found the Silver Hand Meadery and we decided to try it out. The only thing I've ever heard of mead was from the movie the 13th Warrior. Well, this was a pleasant surprise. The staff was excellent, friendly, enthusiastic and easy to talk to. We had the tasting and learned about different types of honey and how the mead is made. It was interesting that they make their own mead right on sight. More amazing is that this gem has been practically in my backyard and I have driven by it so many times and missed it. The honey is very tasty and the mead is very smooth and appealing to the palette. We sat and got to speak to Sam (is their Ops Mgr) for some time and learned quite a bit. We definitely recommend that if you are in Williamsburg, VA and want to do something different that will open your horizon to mead, THIS IS THE PLACE. Thank you to the staff and especially to Sam, Katie, Jacob and the wonderful receptionist which I must apologize on forgetting her name she was very friendly from the start and provided a wealth on information on the Silver Hand. A special thank you and apologies to her.

We had a fabulous time tasting the meads and honey. I highly recommend these tastings if you’ve never tried mead. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly! We bought some mead and chocolate honey frosting (amazing)!
