I absolutely love this this store. Since my mom and I reside in Florida, so we stop at the one in St Augustine every now and then when we are in St Augustine for a mini staycation. We liked this location here in Williamsburg since it has a Tea Bar. My favorite that I normally get is the Earl Grey Crème loose leaf tea and it’s very, very good. I’m looking forward to coming to this location again the next time I’m in the area.

We walked to the Spice and Tea Exchange from Col. Williamsburg. This is a tradition for us. My daughter who is 14 is a big "foodie" and loves to cook and bake. Store is very small. Lots to look at, see , taste and smell. We purchased some fish rub, teas , vanilla beans and many flavored sugars (blueberry, strawberry, mint, banana, caramel). We also bought some catnip for our pets at home. There is a rack with free recipe cards for appetizers, drinks, mains and desserts as well as beverages. Nice little shop. Cashier was very friendly and we had a pleasant conversation with her about iced tea. As I stated this is a tradition for us and we always stop and visit.

This is a great shop! The walls are lined with spices, salts, sugars, sugar blends, salt blends, and lots of teas! I think I spent 30 min just smelling stuff!

Great service and huge variety. Everything she suggested to us we ended up buying! Can't wait to give the blend a try and to use the wasabi powder with our favorite salmon dish.

Unlike anything I've ever seen, the smells and different types of tea, salts, peppers is amazing! I am a tea drinker, but not like this! This is amazingly fancy and fun. I didn't buy any loose tea, but I did have a cup brewed. It was a lovely flowery chai. Even if you don't drink tea, go in and check out and SMELL all the yummy types of tea and spice. What a neat place.

I don't drink tea, and I'm not much of a cook, so this shop wasn't even on my radar until I read a review here and decided to stop by. There are so many things here for serious cooks! Rubs and mixes for every palate, well-organized (Indian, Mediterranean, seafood, venison, Italian, etc.) and smelling so good! I even found two different onion mixes that I'll use for sure in dips and tomato sauces, novice cook that I am.
The real reason I came was for the sugars: raspberry, apple cinnamon, cocoa, coconut, lemon, etc. I *love* using these in oatmeal, hot chocolate, mixed drinks, etc., and I can never find any. I went a little crazy buying them, but the owner was so helpful, friendly, answered all of my questions and gave me great recipe ideas.
It's on the outskirts of Merchant Square, but well worth the time to seek it out. I can't speak to the teas, but they seemed to have a large selection of loose leaves, premixed blends, and I believe they'll mix you a custom blend, too. Definitely check them out!

My husband loves tea so we walked in to check it out. We were greeted by a very friendly sales clerk. The smells were so enticing I really wanted to buy everything. We only bought a few to try but she gave us a card to order online. Great experience

This shop had an amazing array of spice and a decent collection of teas. They had a whole section of salts some that seemed very tasty such as truffle salt and ghost pepper salt. I left with two small packets of tea one a berry white and an oolong. The shop is very small and is just across the street from the Peanut Shop.

I was greeted by Raven. She was pleasant and very informative of the product. She answered all my questions and made suggestions according to my likes/dislikes. I ended up purchasing 6 oz Chamomile Twist tea. I always think the price for tea is a bit pricey, but I end up paying it anyway because I enjoy a good cup of tea. The prices here are good compared to anywhere else. The store is neat and the aroma is awesome! I also appreciate the military discount (THANK YOU!). The next time I am in the area, I will most definitely purchase again from this store and Raven is awesome and was very helpful to me.

It was a great surprise to walk through the door of the Tea and Spice Exchange to find so many wonderful treats for the eyes, taste buds and the nose. Real stores like this are rarer these days and it is a great place to stroll around and find wonderful flavors.
In small towns (cities) like Williamsburg, you can still find these little stores that can make your day just by walking in the door. Too many larger cities (like Alexandria, VA where we just moved away from) are running these types of specialty shops out in favor of chains.
The Tea and Spice Exchange is one of those fun places that makes Merchants Square such a magnet for visitors and shoppers alike.
