I hadn’t play this course in awhile and after we scheduled the round I inquired about the rates. Being a senior you never know when a lower rate is available. This course, located in a active over 55 community I checked online. The stated rate online was $50 for a senior rate on the weekend, at least if you made a tee time online. Otherwise, I found out, it’s full price, in this case $70. The attendant in the pot shop said he “didn’t have a $50” button.
Now on to the course, I would suggest against scheduling a tee time in the morning if there’s a possibility of dew. Between the dampness and the early morning sun it can be tough. Course however was marked well, in good shape, with several challenging holes.

I really like Colonial Heritage GC. I think it’s one of the top 3 conditioned courses in Williamsburg and a must play when visiting. The course is very elevated with carries over waste areas. A few pro level holes I find really challenging. On the front the blind up hill then downhill hole 4, followed by its signature extreme uphill hole 5 can be score busters. The back meanders through GC homes and woods with my favorite two holes coming in, holes 17 and 18. Carry an extra sleeve of balls.

Great for golf, but challenging course. Food nothing to write home about. Very plain jane! Went for lunch on Sunday and ate in the grill since brunch was nothing but a egg station with some sweet rolls. Chicken salad had grapes and nuts which was not my cup of tea, nor was the Cole slaw. Ceasar salad with shrimp was served with plain shrimp, not grilled or seasoned. Recommend Huntsman Grill adjoining Wolf's Lodge for both of these choices, and much better ambience.

With perfect conditions, it's not a great track. Screwy layout, lots of blind shots and my guess is a lot of days when carts on the path only. Like every time it rains. That said, we parted with no grass on the fairways on a day that was so soggy it should have been closed. With all the golf options in Williamsburg, why would anyone go here. Besides, no snack bar open and no ice. I was embarrassed for them taking taking my full price fee. No matter, will never go back.

We booked out tee time on line. On arrival at the course we were welcomed by the cart staff and checked in with the pro shop. We were offered the purchase ($6) of a course layout book, for anyone who hasn't played this course I would highly recommend it, (especially having read the previous reviews). It would be worth it to save a lot of frustration. We had a GPS which saved us somewhat.
The starter was most helpful and friendly.
We play in Florida where it's flat with water, so to play this course with undulation was an exciting change for us. Course management was the key.
The course fairways and greens were in excellent condition. It was not cart path only for us.
Enjoyed the course, and if we weren't passing through Williamsburg, would definitely play there again.

Colonial Heritage is a newer course in Williamsburg. It was designed by Arthur Hills and located in a retirement community. It is ridiculously hard with too numerous blind shots, tricked up greens and overly penal approach shots. The slope has recently been adjusted to 140 - from the members tees ! there are also long distances from green to tee and we felt as though we spent half the day riding in the cart. Our round with no one in front of us took 4 1/2 hours. The only thing positive is the course is in good condition. This type of design is what's killing golf in America. A course that is difficult does not necessarily equate to a course that is good. The vast majority of golfers would find this layout frustrating too time consuming. Unless you are low handicapper, I would suggest not playing here.

We’ve eaten here a couple of times. Typical pub fare - sandwiches, salads with pasta & steak to select from. We have not eaten in the dining room, only the pub. Service is good, the servers are friendly. The food was good & reasonably priced. Nice to get a seat by the window yo enjoy the view of the property.

Wife and I played here for the first time. Thoroughly enjoyed the course - although admitted the two par 5s were a challenge. Definitely want to return again and tame this course.

This is one of the nicest courses in Virginia that is accessible and affordable. It is laid out through rolling hills of Williamsburg. Don't let the scorecard fool you or the fact that it's located in a 55+ neighborhood. It's a placement course and has some tough holes, like their #5, par 5. Don't miss this beauty! 10 minutes from Colonial Williamsburg, Busch Gardens, restaurants and hotels.

Be prepared to use every club in your bag. Generous landing area on most holes. Rolling fairways and undulating greens. Very enjoyable round of golf.
